All KOA's are not created equil...  Sad but true.  Just when I was beginning to think to myself that KOA is on top of their game I reserved a weekend near Yosemite National Park... Mariposa is the actual location of this KOA (near Yosemite).

The KOA website boasts of many things like a catch and release fishing pond and nice swimming pool...

I confirmed everything on the phone they said "well stocked fishing pond" in reality it was a drought season and the pond was overgrown with weeds... it was only 1/4 the size of the picture on the website.

The swimming pool had posted hours or 7:00 PM but for some reason they would close early and kick everyone out at 4:30, 5:00, or 6:00... never mind that it was at least 100 degrees all that week.

It gets worse...

I told them I had a Coleman Pop-up Cheyenne so they asked me for my expanded length so forth and so on... I get there to find a site so small that I had to have my back bunk hanging over a 25 foot cliff or park the car in the middle of the road (the site was too small for the van and the trailer unless I got rid of the pick-nick table.

Now... where is the fire pit?... Oh you want a fire? We can rent you a portable fire plus an additional fee for propane... NO FIRES!

Oh and since my kids did not want to sleep suspended over a cliff I set up a tent... NO TENTS on RV sites!  The people all around me were in tents but since I had a trailer it made me an RV site...  I kept the tent up anyway and after the 2nd argument they let me keep it up.

Did I mention only 2 showers for 75 sites, 15 cabins and hundreds of people?... and they close the showers and restroom for 2 hours to clean them every day!

They were rude when I complained that they should have disclosed some of this in the KOA website or over the phone saying things like too bad you did not ask about the facilities, you should have made reservations further in advance... and even told me I was free to find another campground (knowing that there was not an available campsite for 100 miles).  Refund? HA!

Too bad that this KOA in Mariposa/Yosemite gives all the other outstanding KOA campgrounds such a black eye.

I guess I will have to make a list of questions to ask so this never happens again.

We camp at many other KOA campgrounds and they are all outstanding.  Just stay away from the scam at Yosemite KOA!

I did not proof read good enough...

In the part where it says:
Now... where is the fire pit?... Oh you want a fire? We can rent you a portable fire plus an additional fee for propane... NO FIRES!

It should read:
Now... where is the fire pit?... Oh you want a fire?  We do not allow fires they are too much work to clean the pits. We can rent you a portable fire plus an additional fee for propane.... NO FIRES! By the way their rental fire was about the size of a small pizza.

SPLAT

That is a rip off of a KOA... I will never go there again.
