Last week at Walmart I just happened to come across a cute calendar that was more than likely designed for kids.   but... since you know me and how easy I am to amuse, you know it's just my kind of fun.   It has a blank page above the part where the dates are, just a basic simple design.   There are some templates of different shapes that can be cut out, and you can use your own craft ideas to decorate it.   On Sunday, DH and I took our DGS and DGD to our local museum, spent the afternoon there.  We had a really good time and took some very cute pics.  (I did put a few of them in my webshots site.)   The kids and I are using printed pics, sized 2.25x3.5, and cutting one of the templates to make an envelope.  They will decorate it, and glue it to the page and slide the pics in.   They will also mark the event on the date square.   This coming weekend is the Auto Show here in Grand Rapids, and DH and DS are talking about going.   Hope they don't forget the camera.   Soon (well, sooner or later) it will be spring, and we'll be camping again, making new fun with outdoor activities.   By the end of the year, we'll have lots of fun memories of the things we did together, and will have put this scrapbook together, together.

My wife got into scrapbooking big time a couple of years ago.  The interst, unfortunately, has waned.  She really did some very creative artwork with our Yellowstone camping pictures.  I'm impressed with anyone who has the time and talent to make such a project.  I lack both.

I'm really into digital photography.  The downside is it is very hard to share with family/friends who don't have computers (can you some people don't?).  We started printing them out, and making the scrapbooks manually.  Soon got tired of that too.

Now we are starting to take our digital images and put the into Word or PowerPoint, do some creative backgrounds, then print them out as an entire sheet.  Alignment is easy, it's easy to modify, and more importantly, you can send a copy to friends who went on the vacation too, or to distant family members.  I also archive all my images to a DVD and keep a copy at work.  If the house burns down, or we have to evacuate for a hurricane, a backup DVD will save the day.

Not that the electronic method works for anyone else, but it is another option for those not crafty with scissors.

GROAN--please, Toni, no more ideas (like this one) of fun things to do.  I am running out of space and time!!

You guys, did you not notice that this project is for the kids to do???  I just provided some start up advice, and the pics.   From now on, it's up to them to make it into a scrapbook to share with the family at the end of the year.   This isn't scrapbooking in the true sense like 2MT was talking about.   That's a big commitment of time and energy, much too big for my little kiddies.   But, this should be fun, and the final result should be delightful.

yes the results should be delightful and yes the kids will have great fun with it.  and it will be great memories for them later.  I dont have any kids around so I guess that lets me off the hook!

Hmmmmm. Might be a neat way for me to plan what I'm going to eat for dinner over the next year. Just cut & paste a picture of what I want each day & have Peggy make it! (fat chance)

Plus, I'd have a record of what I ate (in case anyone was wondering.) LOL    ;)  :(

Got news fer ya, if they are more than about 10, they probably know a lot more about computers than the rest of us!  My 4 year old started computer classes LAST YEAR!   ;)

But you're right, what I was talking about for more intended for the parents.  The plus for digital images is you can print out sheets of images, let them cut and crop as they wish.  If they mess up, print another.
