You may remember I was looking for a conversion van to replace our failing 93 Ford Explorer.

Well, I found this one on Ebay and made an offer.  Now it's mine.  I fly to Richmond next friday to pick it up and drive it home.

What do you think?

Patience, Patience, jstad, etc.  She flew to Richmond yesterday and may have decided to spend the night and leave for Jacksonville this AM.

It is SIX HUNDRED MILES from Richmond to Jacksonville and even as thrilled as Cindy may be with her new chariot, it may  take her more than  3 or 4 hours to make the trip.   :J

I absolutely want to  meet Cindy if she can drive 600 miles in 4 hours :) I am just being bad :) I am also curious, if it is as good as she thought it was. I wonder what happened to the van of the guy she met at the supermarket. It looked like it was almost a done deal, maybe she can fill us in on that too ?

Let us know  when you come back MommaMia !

 !

Birol, my dear  innocent young friend, one of the things I have learned  from my long life and many experiences is that a woman should  NEVER  trust some guy with a van she meets at the supermarket!~ :J  :J  :W

Sorry!!!  I guess I should have made it clear that I was headed to the airport to fly to Virginia to pick up the new van on Fri.  Then I drove to SC on Sat.  Now, Sunday afternoon, I'm home here in Jacksonville!!!

Everything went very smoothly.  The van was as described with the exception that there is a minor scratch on the driver side and while there is power to the VCP, when you insert the tape and push play, nothing happens. (There is a little red DEW indicator light that is flashing... have no clue what it means.  Can anyone help me out?)   A little frustrating... I didn't bring a video tape with me to check function before the sale was completed.  My fault, but I will contact the seller to see if he's willing to help out.  Otherwise I am very pleased!

The drive home was smooth.  No traffic problems.  The van rode smoothly.  I think I got a really great deal!

Hehehe!  Oh B.... you made me laugh!!!

The guy in the parking lot with the van ended up backing out after we got all excited, test drove and everything!  He said his wife didn't want to part with the van... not yet.  He wanted to sell it and get a VW Beetle!  Boy would that have been a big change!  No wonder the wife didn't want to give up her van.

WHile that other van was really nice, this new one is just as good, all the same bells and whistles and it's a year newer!  It looks like things have worked out for the best!

In a past life, I was a VCR repairman.....

The DEW indicator on a VCR (if working properly) means that, quite literally, there is dew on the inside of the VCR. It is a good feature on units that see a variety of temperatures rather quickly. For instance, on a cold day, you jump in the van and turn on the heat. Condensation can form on the inside of the VCR.

Why is this important? The videotape can "stick" to various moving parts inside the VCR if there is moisture inside. This could not only ruin a VCR head ($$$), it can also eat the tape (or both).

If the DEW light does its job, it will stay on until the moisture has gone away. There could also be a malfunctioning dew sensor. Only a qualified tech should be checking that though.

HTH.

Hey thanks Larry!  After searching around for dew sensors and the model of vcp that we have, it appears that it should come as no surprise that many, many others are having the exact same problem...A malfunctioning dew sensor!

I e-mailed the seller of the van to see if he will cover the cost of new VCP since it was advertised to have a tv and VCP (incidentaly,,, the listing actually says VCR... tecnically I could be a real PITA and insist on a VCR but nahhhh!)  I don't think I should have a problem getting him to agree since brand new in the box models are going on Ebay for around $20.  Seems nobody wants them, just DVD now.  But we have lots of video tapes.  I also have a portable dvd to use in the van but would like the option of both.

We hope you are happy.  Contrary to comments to the contrary, the later version 150's have been very reliable.  Good luck!!!!!
