Hey B~

Since I am having trouble with the van's VCP I thought I'd check to see you you have up for sale lately.  What's your seller id again?  Maybe you could just give me the link here! :p

Nothing that fancy unfortunately  :(  I sell as Real_Goomph, bur currently don't have anything for sale. all the items are in the garage waiting to be cleaned and listed, I hope to start next week once again. Usually old phones, radios, Nintendo games etc ....I will put a 4" color tv soon though, it is ideal for camping and works :)

As for the VCP, I would not bother with it, get yourself a neat DVD player in its place.

1 ) DVD's are easier to carry
2 ) DVD's take a lot less space then VC's
3 ) You can burn them at home too if you wish.

So, replace that VCP with a DVD, and you will thank me for this advise for quite a few years :)

Good Morning!

Actually, we do have a portable DVD player that we can use in the van.  We used it last night as a matter of fact.  We had to drive back to the airport to pick up the car I left there on friday.  Since the VCP wasn't working properly we had to use the DVD player or else the kids would have completely flipped out having no movie to watch on their maiden voyage in the new van!

I know we will mostly use the DVD player in the van but since the custom conversion was done with a fitted opening for the VCP, if we just take that out and don't replace it there will be an empty void with the opening having no fabric lining like the spare storage compartment that the DVD player sits in.  It's actually going to work out to be cheaper to get a new VCP than to purchase upholstery materials to finish the opening.  I see I can get one on Ebay for under $20!

I HATE ENGLISH !!!!! I should have been more clear  :D

What you do is, go to a competent audio shop, and they will put a DVD player in place of the VCP, and hook it up to the display on the roof. They will also use a bezel or something to close the gap nicely, as the DVD player will be smaller than the VCP for sure. I hope now I am clear on what I wanted to say. A porable DVD is not as good as the (watchability waise ) flip down display you have.

Good luck with it either way  :W

B~  I think are misunderstanding.... The portable DVD unit gets hooked up to the 13 inch tv that's installed in the van. The tiny 5 inch monitor that comes with the dvd player is not needed.  It's actually a benifit to us to use the portable one. We don't have the expense of purchasing a dvd unit.  We also use it hooked up to the kids tv in the house.

If I put the dvd plater into the opening left by the removed vcp, the "gap" is huge... more than just a bezel will cover.  The opening would actually need to be finished.  A picture is worth a thousand words... check out the attachment.

Ohh,

I was thinking of another van I guess, completely forgot that you had this setup. ! I can sell you a VCR for that hole :):):) (But it would be probably too expensive with shipping and stuff :))

So, I stand corrected, humiliated, embrassed, red faced  :J

Birol, when you are trying to help someone, there is absolutely no need to "...stand corrected, humiliated, embrassed, red faced  :J "  And as for your imperfect English, it isnt a crime and it only makes us love you more for trying.

Ummmmm, I wasn't having any trouble understanding what he was trying to say. ;)

Me neither....

I think he was having trouble understanding what I was saying though.

I know some of the innocence and apparent gullability of Birol is merely the language- translation- gap thing but I'm quite sure that a lot of it is truly his nature.  It's what makes him so endearing!  Always makes me smile!

Cindy, this is so true!    :)  :)  :)  And despite his appearance of naivete, my impression is that underneath it all is a very bright person :W

birol

Yes, I actually I am very smart :)  well, have a very high IQ I should say, as high IQ doesn't equate to smartness always, I am a living sample of that !

In my days at IBM, I was very hard driving and created a lot of, lets say, quizzed looks. MY manager made me go to a company which deals with individuals who are, errrm, different :) There I was diagnosed with a high IQ of 145 (On what scale I don'w know, I lost the papers). All I remember is, I would be smarter than 97% people in any place I happen to be, and than they said, that I was a lot smarter then them.

Yup , I know how smart I really am, still jobless after 2.5 years, distributing newspapers at -10 F. If I catch those people, I will force feed (err make them read I meant) them some papers

This board and my cyber friends make me smile :)

B~

You mentioned the other day (jokingly)something about finding a job someplace warm.

I saw this and thought of you...

birol

Thanks for thinking of me, and I wasn't kidding abot moving to FLA, warm, ummm, yummy. But I a not a web developer person, otherwise I would apply immediately. I don't have much specialization left, Just a Lotus Notes administrator, maybe ...... Sigh ... I hate being caught up on my move to management. I was a manager for the last 7 years before coming to Canada, and had to take a technical job at IBM, and moved to Nortel to put my management career back on track, well, I got derailed :)
