The manatees have arrived at the State Park.  Those looking for a camping trip in the off season might want to consider making the journey.  They only show up during the cold season as the spring remains 72 degrees year round.  More info here:  http://www.floridastateparks.org/bluespring/default.asp

Air temps are in the 70s during the day, mid 40s to mid 50s at night.  Perfect camping weather.

You are being sooo cruel.  I love manatees and spent a few days at Blue Springs in 1990.  I wish we could go now, DS has never seen a wild manatee.

And what's your excuse for NOT going?  If you wait 'til Summer, the manatees won't be at the springs.  They only show up this time of year, so pack your stuff and spend a week in the warm weather!

Well my excuse is that the only way to get a day off work is to have it picked as vacation, which was done in October AND DS missed 2 weeks of school when we were in Florida in October, so I don't think they would allow him to miss another week. :)

He could do a week long study of this endangered creature, then write a report.  That should be worth some extra credit, eh?  :D

Shame you're not going to be able to go.  It's only about a 1.5hr drive for me.  I used to camp there almost every Summer weekend while in High School.  I'm looking forward to when our boys are old enough to snorkel the springs with me.

Now you know the time of year you need to show up to see the manatees.  Put that in your schedule for NEXT year.

That is a possability.  This year we had too may things planned and all my vacation was preplanned.  If not 2005 then 2006.
