They found the body of the 11 year old Carli in Florida !

Why are people such animals ? What is it which attracts them to children and makes them kill an innocent young child !

We don't let out daughter walk from school to the house alone,  and her friends tell her that we are over protective of her. YEAH RIGHT ! We probably couldn't be overprotective enough  :(

It is very sad, I keep telling DD that times have changed, but she thinks that she can handle herself.  I keep bringing things like this up.  I think it's finally starting to sink in.

When I was that girls age, I'd walk several blocks from my friends house home down an alley without even thinking about it, now a days you can't even walk a block in broad daylight without being afraid.

Times have definitely changed.

Dayton Dave

My heart just breaks for that family.

There is a missing girl here in the Dayton area for almost 5 years.  She was out walking her dog, and the dog was found still on its leash.  Jessica Baker has never been seen since.  For 5 years we have watched a family struggle with this loss.

We have two of my wife's nieces living with us for almost 2 1/2 years now.  They are 12 and 14 (in a month).  I get all kinds of grief because I don't want to let they go to movies alone with friends, or drop them off at the mall without supervision.

That little girl in Florida, 11 years old, was comfortable to be out and about or she would not have gone off on her own instead of waiting for her Dad.  The news said that she liked going to the mall with her friends.

Maybe I am to old fashioned, but I think it is my job to protect my children any way I can.  I want them to grow up and be independent, but that doesn't mean that I have to give in to the social "norms" of today and let them do what everyone else is doing.  I'm Sorry, not going to happen.

My kids will make it to adulthood safely, or I will die trying!!!

I agree with Daytondave, darn the socially acceptable stuff !  My children will also be safe and make it t adulthood !

A 9 eyar old girl was adbucted sometime last year,  She was ver comfortable wlaking back and forth to her friends house. Her pieces were found the next day :(

Another one was abducted from her bedroom ! Still missing. I am sorry if I am old fashioned but my childreen will be under my supervision when they are going or coming from somewhere.

DS is almost 15, and now we allow him to walk to the bus alone. He is learning a martial arts self defense thingie to boot ! We still want to know where he is all the time when he is out with his friends. He is now almost as tall as me, so we are very worried about him, but we still do. DD is petite, and looks like a 9 year old rather then 11.5, so we are very careful with her.

I hope that guy gets what is coming to him ! They don't let these kind of people live in the jails in Turkey. I know, it is probably not justice, but boiling blood likes the idea .....

It is very sad that this kind of thing is happening in our country and that certain areas are not safe.  We do not have things going on in our area.  I'm happy that there are still a few places left where the community owns it community by being caring and watchful of everything and we pitch in to put a stop to detrimental things and criminals.

The criminals should be turned over to the victim's family for true justice.

Someone harms one of my crew, they'd better pray the cops get them first.  I still have family with many acres of farmland, if ya know what I mean.   ;)

He WILL get his... this life or the next.
