I was at the Fort Wayne, In RV show this weekned and they had one of the new Livin Lite Pop ups (//www.livinlite.com) on display.  Before I give you my impressions I have to tell you the DW to one look at it, said yeck and kept on walking.  So I did not spend a whole lot of time looking at it.  Also it was attracting quite of bit of interest and I was never able to talk to the representative.
First of let me say this this is solid.  Pardon the expression but it is built like a brick sh**house.  There is no wood in it anywhere.  It is all aluminum and composite board.  And it is very well put together.  It only weighs 850# and could easily go off road. Which I think the market they are trying to tap.
In this day when all the manufacturers are adding all the comfort items to their pop ups and raising the walls to squeeze in more stuff, this is definitely a stripped down unit.  You get you bunks, a dinette, a couple of storage cabinets and a sink with a small water tank.  There is an electrical conveter and a couple of outlets, but I doubt if they will ever get much use.  The cabinets are the smoothest and most secure I have seen in any RV.  Reminded me of what you would expect in an emergency vehicle, such as a fire truck or ambulance.
However there are several negatives.  The first is the door.  The top half is simply a canvas flap that has to be zipped, similar to what you would find in a tent.  This would become very annoying, especially if camping with children.  Secondly the canvas attaches to the outside of the box with snaps that would need to be attached each time you set up.  Anybody with a tonneau cover knows how snaps hold up over time.  The foam cushions are definitely inferior.  I would not want to sleep or even sit on one of these for more than a few minutes.
The aluminum floor will certainly get very cold, but I think that can easily be dealt with.  The floor is made of one inch aluminum planks that interlock.  It is extremely solid.  Looks easy to clean and care for.  And actually looks pretty good too.
I know it kind of defeats what they are trying to accomplish, but if the would improve the canvas attachment, add a real door top, and offer a refrigerator and a furnace,  (And of course those cushions need to be improved.) they might be on to something.  Or at the very least the other manufacturers might be inspired to incorporate some of Living Lite's construction techniques into other units.
If you do not have kid's and if you usually dry camp, especially off road, this unit is definitely worth checking out.  If you ar looking for a camper for a hunting or fishing camp,  you will definitely want to look at this one.
I apologize, but in the excitement of the RV show and the fact that I was not the least interested in buying this unit.  I forgot to check the price[:O][:(].  It was being displayed by //www.thervcenter.com at Columbia City, Indiana.  I did hear the rep say this was their first production unit.

I am happy to see that some RV manufacturers are finally looking to fill some of the smaller niche markets out there - it's about time. The boat-look interior on this one doesn't appeal to me, but it does look like it would be very easy to take care of - looks like you could almost hose it down, inside and out. And it is really nice to finally see some lighter-weight campers on the market. I hope they do well.

Those are selling for $4000 to $5000 and it seems a bit pricey for what is being offered.  I guess there must be a market and they comes in many different colors.

All that aluminum ain't cheap!!! ;)

I spent about an hour inside a Quicksilver/Livin Lite camper.  It's a perfect camper for those who already have lots camping equipment. It gets you up off of the ground and has room for lots of stuff. It's lean but well built and should last forever.

That sounds like a "Heads Up" and I shall look forward to seeing their ads in the next PUT, though the camper would not be for me as it has a tent canvas roof.  It might make a good starter camper for someone.  I did notice that the floor material seems really good, unlike the chipcore stuff seen in a lot of campers.

I really like this camper.  It would be real tempting if I had seen this before I bought my camper.  We usually camp for just 1 to 2 nights & I try to keep set-up to a minimum for simplicity.  This concept is the future of pop-up camping & I am glad of it.  I hope that Coleman may even adopt some of these simple pop-up ideas to their new line-up with Viking/Coachman.

Their ad is on page 19 of the current issue. :)

I did see that ad, Dave, and just figured that we will be seeing more in the future issues.
