As some of you know, F-SIL is in the Navy and injured his knee.  He went to orthopedic DR yesterday and he thinks it may be a Torn Meniscus.  The DR wants to do 2 things, start physical therapy next week and on April 13th, do an MRI.  The poor kid is in so much pain and the pain meds are not working.

Has anyone had this problem?  Does this seem normal?  My heart goes out for him as he's in such pain, he's so used to being active and now he has to stay put for a month.... There is no one up there to be with him, DD is very upset since she wants to be with him.

This is a common injury amongst Soccer players in Europe. Sometimes it gets better by rest and most of the times it needs an operation.

I understand how your DD feels, but they both need to face the realities of the army life and make the best out of it. It has a lot of advantages, and is a very honorable profession, but it is not for everyone as it takes a big toll on everyone involved. Is eh still planning on quitting ?

He did grow up playing soccer and then in HS, played in marching band, and soccer....this time he did it bowling.

As far as quitting, he has his good days and bad days.... we're going thru some very bad days right now.

What is his civil profession ? What is he going to do if/when he leaves ? My father quit after 27 years of service and did not go and finish university to get his civil engineer degree (he had to go only for two years as he knew the rest of the stuff from his military experience, he was at corp of engineers)  and he suffered a lot till he found an area he felt comfortable and could make some money.

I am sounding picky picky picky, don't mean to .....I  just am in a bad mood I guess  :(
