I just looked at your webshots site...didn't realize that you had a Safari until now...tell me anything you can about it  I am going to put a extra cooler on up front for transmission.  I am wondering about brakes, my popup (small, light Coleman 10') does not have breaks on it, I didn't have any problems with the New Yorker break wise, I am thinking that I won't with this as a tow vehicle either? Maybe I am wrong???  I also do not have any sort of sway bar set up, never needed it with the New Yorker, never even knew that the camper was back there, no sway at all.  Maybe it will all just depend on how it feels after I have it on the Safari.  One more question...I looked at the wiring harness in the jack compartment...does that bundle of wires go down & out the bottom of that compartment and then over from underneath for hookup? (I know I have to install the connector)  I plan on getting the hidden hitch set up.  Thanks! Look forward to seeing you at the rally (just coming for pot luck due to other commitments).

I think that you will be fine with the brakes, heck I pulled the Jayco home from the last rally w/o any brakes on my camper and mine weights a lot more that yours does at least I think so mine is 3300#'s.
We do get some sway with our camper so I am unsure that you will get sway with yours.  Since our Jayco has the surge brake system we could not use a std friction type sway system or wdh.  The rear end of the Astro/Safari are soft so you may get some sway and if your tongue is heavy then you may possibly need a wdh.  We purchased a sway control designed especially for surge brake systems and air lift springs for the rear end.
The wiring harness in the right compartment is complete with what you need for wiring your lights.  The owners manual is very well written for the color of each wire and what funtions each provide.  I think there is either 6 or 8 wires, I drilled a hole in the bottom and ran the wires to the back of the van.  I then filled the hole with silicon to prevent any corrosion of the surface & to protect the wires.  If you have any questions please let me know.
