Just went by the Fleetwood dealer to get a few parts and had to check out the new trailers. I remember some pretty negative posts recently on this line and after checking them out, I don't get it.

When compared to the other extra big trailers Like My Westlake or a Niagra, this thing wins hands down. It's huge inside but the GVWR is not much more than my Westlake. The seating is more comfortable, it has a bigger fridge with a freezer and a microwave.

As far as price goes they had a sale going and they were not more than the prices on the Utah or Niagra. If I were going for another big tent trailer, this would be the one.

I agree.  I stopped by the dealer to look today.  The Hemlock looks noce.  The high walls and the slide give you lots of room inside.

I just hope after the new house I can afford one.

Yeah, I like them too. But we still lack the tow vehicle for anything bigger. In fact, the DW said if I am wanting to buy a truck big enough (3/4 ton) to pull a fiver, lets just skip all the big PU's, hybrids, TT's, and just go to a fiver. We saw one on the lot the other day that she really likes...it has a bunkhouse for kids/in-laws/parents.

I'd hate to say it but down ther road, I might sell my Westlake and buy one of these.Or maybe one of the Starcraft equivelents if it's as nice. I really want a hybrid but have yet to see one that will sleep a family of five for less than 5000lbs GVWR.I tow with an Astro and the thought of buying a bigger and considerably more expensive tow vehicle makes me Ill. I could tow this deal with an Astro easilly. At 19ft long it's the same length as my trailer which means I could fit it in a garage.I expect i could tow with similar gas mileage but do wonder if the additional height would cut my gas mileage.

It does deal with a lot of my dislikes on my Westlake. It feels really big inside, even on the non slide out models. It has a bigger fridge with a small freezer, at least you could keep some Ice for drinks. The interior seating is comfortable, one of my my biggest gripes on my trailer. The convertable Dinette is bigger at 80 x 64, my dinette is useless as a bed except for small childeren, so is my gaucho for that matter. The microwave and oven are no big deal to me but my wife sure liked the idea of having a built in microwave.

My biggest gripe about a popup will probably never get fixed. That is, getting down on your hands and knees to get something out of a cupboard. But this model helps becuase the cupboards are a little higher.

Bottom line for me is the thought of buying a $39,000.00 tow vehicle that gets 9 miles to the gallon is really hard to get my arms around. At two bucks a gallon or more for gas this just is not practical for me. I just can't stand the idea of my wife driving kids around town eating that much gas.

Well Randy, my new TV gets around 15 MPG (F-250 Diesel).  Even with the towing capacity I am torn between a Highlander and a Hybrid.  I think when the time comes it will be a Highlander.

Only gripe I have about these high wall models (at least the ones with a slide), is I have yet to see one that the fridge is accessible with the top down.  The ones I've seen have the fridge on the opposite side from the door and with the slide in, you can't get to the fridge.  Is there a high-walled pop-up with the fridge right in front of or next to the door?

I guess the Starcraft 3600 (No slide) or the 2600 (galley slide) would do, but the beds are really small in the 2600.

As for the Fleetwoods, I would have to say the Redwood with the side dinette or the Sequoia with the u dinette -- since the fridge is right in front of the door on both models.  Even though they don't have slides, they have HUGE beds.

If I were to get a pop-up or suggest a pop-up to someone, it would be the above models.

I've been secretly looking at new ones on the web.even TT's, wouldn't want to give DH a corinary just yet. The big RV show in Pomona, Ca is in Oct.

hey dee--we'll meet you there! :sombraro:

The Highlander series is nice, but if I were going to have something other than my beloved pop up, I would definitely be looking at something that had a more functional bathroom/shower and was going to cut down on my set up time.

I have been eyeing the hybrid expandables.  You still get the benefits of sleeping under canvas, but without the downside of having to crank the roof, set up the inside and outside, and put everything away.  I REALLY LOVE the Starcraft Travelstar/Antigua series, especially the model with the bunks off the front and back as well as the back side, but inside height is only 6'4"  With Dave being too damn tall by one inch, it's most likely a deal breaker for us.  :%

Instead, he bought me a porta potti. :)

I like the high side wall trailers.  If I were looking to buy a new PU that is the way I would go. :)

I am with Griffsmom!  It would be nice when we are travelling all night to pull into a Walmart for a couple of hours and get some rest or use the bathroom.  We like....love!!!!!  our Utah, but if we buy another trailer it will be a hybrid or an A.  We also like the Antigua.

Went back and looked at them again, this is bad...means I want one. I'm pretty sure on the Sequoia you could load the interior and fridge with the top down. The one thing that scares me is the dry tongue weight on the Seqoia is 330lbs. I wonder how it would end up fully loaded. I really don't want more than 400lbs tongue weight on my Astro Van.

I'd love to hear from someone who bought one, how it tows etc.

You know, we all shrink with age.  Paul's lost 3/4 of an inch since he was in the military (which makes David's growth spurt all the more obvious now that he's caught up with dad!).  Think Dave will shrink a full inch along the way?  LOL  And what a romantic guy, buying you a porta potti!  And I thought Paul was romantic when he bought me a Dot Richardson softball bat for my birthday!

I'm afraid to go to the Pomona show.  Places like that are dangerous for us.
