got woody?

Any thoughts on Connecticut campgrounds?  Say, within one hour from New Haven?

 Litchfield County lakes?  Mystic/Casinos area?

Private or State, I m open to suggestion.

My family is in Hamden (mine and my wifes hometown) and we d like to be able to bring the camper up and have them meet us somewhere.

The Archives (old board) had some thoughts but I thought I d start fresh here to see if anything new pops up.

got woody? We stayed at [Link=http://www.seaportcampground.com/]Seaport Campground[/link] in October of  01.  Shade is limited (who cares about shade in October?), but it was close to everything we wanted.  Restroom were very clean.  Much of the campground is seasonal.  We were there in October, which is too cold for the pool.

If you visit [Link=http://www.mysticseaport.org/]Mystic Seaport[/link], give yourself two days.  Regular admission is good for two days.  Also, before buying tickets, make sure you look at the price of a membership.  If there is any chance you will come back in the next 12 months, the membership will probably be cheaper.

[link=http://www.mysticaquarium.org/]Mystic Aquarium[/link] is a little smaller than Boston s New England Aquarium, but has things I ve never seen anywhere else.  Dr. Bob Ballard (found the Titanic, etc...the " Jaques Cousteau"  of the  90s) operates out of Mystic Aquarium.  Along with the marine life displays (including 3 belugah whales), there are displays dedicated to Ballard s work and the deep sea.

If you re in downtown Mystic, visit Mystic Pizza, the setting for the 1988 movie [Link=http://www.reel.com/movie.asp?MID=1010]Mystic Pizza[/link] starring Julia Roberts.  Expect to wait in line on a Friday or Saturday night in the summer (yes, it s worth the wait, even for a pizza joint).
