Sorry this has nothing to do with camping, just needed to vent. Yesterday after work i picked up my daughter from my in-laws house, we got home around 4:00 and when we walked in the door i knew something was wrong, it was HOT in the house. Temp outside here in Vegas were 107*, inside it was 90*, so i got on the phone and called American Home Shield, my Home Warrenty. They told me they would send out the repair order and that someone woulnd call me in the morning. The wife got home from work a little after 5:00, she call her mom and dad and told them what happened, they invited us to come stay with them, which we did, i might be crazy, but i'm not stupid, we weren't going to stay in this hot box. I woke up around 4:30 this morning, my usual wake up time, and so not to wake everyone I left and came home to wait for the AC people to call. They finally called  around 8:15 this morning and said they would have someone here between 9:00am and 2:00pm. So my wife, 2 daughters and Cinderella our dog are all cool and comffy at the in-laws house while dear old dad is sweating at home with a little fan on him while i type my story!!
Dads do get all the dirty jobs :J ........Thanks for listening..........Ed

So your A/C went out yesterday...where did it go?  Did it pick up a galon of milk and a loaf of bread while it was out?  Has it returned yet?

Austin (sorry - just trying to make light of a hot situation)

I thought you made light of a hot situation by switching to fluorescent light bulbs?

Could you have setup your A/C equipped PopUp on CampDriveway? :frosty:

Sorry about you AC going out.  The only advantage that having room ACs is that if one goes out you don't loose all of your cooling.  I have to feel good about not having central air.

They finally showed up to fix the AC around 12:30, The guy told me who ever fixed it last time hooked up 2 run capaciters in series and one came loose and caused the fuse in the air handler in the attic to blow. he also said its drawing to many amps due to having 2 capaciters. he took pics to send to to American Home Shield, that mess will have to be redone and he has to add a new fan motor for the ground unit. At the moment it working fine, but he'll be back Wednesday to fix it right after he gets all the parts. It sucks not having AC here, right now its 105*..

By the way, when the AC went out it did pick up some milk and a dozen Krispy Creme Donuts :J

I guess we are really lucky with air conditioning here in NC..On the hottest days ,upper ninties, we only have to run the AC about 6 to 8 hours a day. We shut it down at night and open a few windows and house stays cool all night. I have installed ceiling fans in most rooms including bedrooms and these really make a big difference. I am going to install an attic exhaust fan in the fall when it cools off. It will allow us to control the direction of drafts in the house by opening different windows. On hot days it will also ventilate the attic and exhaust a lot of hot air which will help lower the power bill........

Our A/C went out last month when it was 116 here in Phoenix. DH was home and took the unit apart and replaced 2 fuses. So far so good. We are having our cool spell now with 103 today. I think some of the problems are caused by all these violent storms we have been having. Hope you get it working soon.

Ed - at least you got to pick up the Krispy Cremes. They all went bankrupt here in the Phoenix area last Friday and never opened, left their employees without paychecks. Pretty sad.

Take care.

You have Krispy Creams in Vegas?
Wow, I thought they were just a Southern thing.
I did hear they made it to NYC but all the way to Vegas!

In Richmond Va we have a Krispy Cream where you can buy them hot and dripping, right out of the oven.  Nothing better!

To those of us in the frozen north (uh, at least in the winter) Vegas IS south...BTW, we have Krispy Kreme here in the Twin Cities.

Sigh.  I sure miss my Dunkin' Donuts.

We have 2 big Krispy Creme bakerys that make and distribute them. One is only about 3 miles from my house. My little girls like going to see the donuts being made fresh 24 hours a day. They even give you each one fresh from the conveyer for Free.

Feel lucky mine went out for milk and doughnuts and never made it back til I posted a $2000 dollar reward...............I don't think it's the same one looks brand new and works alot better than it use too. I think I'll keep this one. Hope it doesn't decide to go to the doughnut hut anytime soon.
110 degrees during the day and 80's at night.
