Anyone been to Woods Valley Kampground in San Diego county?  If so, do you have any thoughts, comments, or site recommendations?  We're thinking of camping here over Memorial Day weekend.

Thanks! :D

Hi Lori-
We in fact stayed at this campground over Memorial day the first year we got our popup. Unfortunately, we got the last site which was a nice quiet site but set next to their full-timers (which were seedy looking trailers). From what I remember the sites were shaded. The lower part of the campground was grassy (but these sites fill up first from what I remember hearing) The rest of the sites are dirt. They had a pond and a little farm with animals. They also had a nice pool. The CG was clean and kept nice.  The folks that work there (I think it is a family run CG) were very nice.  In fact they used to post on PUT about the CG on the last board.   I am bummed that you couldn't get a site at Malibu, you guys will be missed.

Funny....they told us we got the "last site" too! ;)  We will be in site 23 in their Oaks section and I'm looking forward to a nice quiet relaxed weekend of camping.  The cg does seem to be very family-oriented which sounds quite nice, and I'm looking forward to going to Bell Garden Farm (of the Taco Bell family) and taking Griffin on the train ride they have thorough the Bell family orchards.  Griffin's mad about trains.  :D

When we return, I will be sure to write a review of the cg.

You might want to double check Bell Gardens status.  I think I read that it was closing.  Wouldn't want your kiddo to be disappointed.

Thanks for the heads up.  I'll give them a call.

Woods Vlley is a nice campground and has lots of trees..It would be nice over memorial day weekend if it is n't already booked.  Have camped there for years people are nice and the pond is well stocked (catch and release) nice petting zoo also for the kids.  It is very kid friendly...

Lori: I think cottonwooder camped here a couple of weeks ago?

We had reserved a site here for Memorial Day weekend because we couldn't get in at Malibu, but then cancelled it when Camping Coxes had to cancel their spot at Malibu and we switched over to there.

Since we had already sent in one night's reservation fees to Woods Valley, they said we could go ahead and make another reservation within a year and the fee we paid would be applied to that new reservation.  Since it looks like we may not be able to join Jacqui up at Bridgeport in August, we may try to schedule a trip to Woods Valley in early August.  Another option would be a mini-rally at Woods Valley--maybe September, if anyone's up for it?

Woods Valley might get pretty hot in Aug. and Sept.  But if got spaces under the oaks, in the first area next to rec room would probably be o.k. We have camped there many times...got rained out one thanksgiving...What a mess trying to pack up...We have A/C so we would be very interested in camping at that time.  There is also a pool there.  Just mailed off money for Temecula campout in October.  :tent:

Where was I supposed to be going?  I didn't know I was going to Malibu over Memorial.

We don't go anywhere over a holiday weekend if we can help it.  The only place I'll be going over Memorial is to the ball field for a four day tournament to watch my little pitcher!:#

Wow, that's the only trip I actually made it to.  Lots of planning-to-go trips, but the plans always get changed by life happening.  But I'm really glad I made such a great impression!  :W

Last weekend we were in Valley Center at a casino (Valley View)  and won $100.00.  On our way home we drove through Woods Valley CG and had a look around.   They were very crowded but it was cool under the shade trees.  I asked how the CG looked in August and Sept.  She said not all weekends were totally booked.   So I think we will be camping at woods valley soon.  And if the urge to gamble hits us, we will jump in the car a nd head over to Valley View...Harrahs isn't far either...a virtural mini Las Vegas...LOL. it would make a good ralley cg for So Cal camping club....lots to do for the kids and adult fun is not far away also...There would be something for everyone to do......
