We're passing through Jacksonville from the Tampa area.  Mapquest says to take I-75 to the Ocala area, then go through town and up US301 to Jacksonville.  AAA told me to take I-75 all the way up to I-10 and take that to Jacksonville.  That seems to be pretty far out of the way, but maybe it's faster because it's not through town?  Any comments would be appreciated.

The I-75 to I-10 is a VERY LONG WAY around to Jacksonville.

Eventhough US301 goes through little towns, several NOTORIOUS for speed traps, most of it is smooth 65 MPH or so sailing. Most RV's go this route and many places cater to them by giving them large parking and wide turn arounds, etc...

The SPEEDTRAPS are in WALDO and LAWTON. Trust me, they patrol HEAVY there.... it is the PD's main income. When in those towns watch the signs CLOSELY as they change quickly, at times dropping to only 35MPH.

It is much faster this way....

I second that.  I have used 301 many times when driving back up from my folks house.  It is a good, not so busy road with just a few towns to slow down in.  if I remember right you take 301 to I-10 to I295 to I95.  Have fun and slow down in the towns.
