Fall Westmoreland State Park Trip

Our Fall trip this year will be back to Westmoreland State Park - located on the Potomac River in Northeastern Virginia.  As of this morning, there were 41 campsites with electric and water hookups available for the weekend of SEPTEMBER 24 - 26, 2004.  We will try again to get as many sites as we can in the A loop...but the B loop is right across the road, and not far away.

THose of you who went to Westmoreland last time will be shocked at what Hurricane Isabel did to the park.  The park was completely closed for 7 months. I hope by September they will have the boat dock rebuilt, and the 25 feet that was taken off the fishing pier replaced.

I will be glad to serve as Wagonmaster for this trip...and will post additional information once we get closer to the date. I assume everyone wants to rent the same building and portable (huge) grill we got before, so I will begin checking on those reservations.  I also was very pleased with the last night evening campfire at the beach shelter with the large fireplace, so we will go with that too, if I can get it.

Please GO AHEAD and make your reservations ASAP through the Virginia State Park Reservation Center...1-800-933-PARK.  ONE IMPORTANT NOTE...to be sure we hold enough sites for the group, when you make your reservation with the reservation center, please ask them SPECIFICALLY to ADD a note on your reservation that you are camping with the POPUPTIMES CAMPING GROUP.  This will really help the Westmoreland Staff identify who you are when you check in.

Earl and I are planning again to arrive Thursday, September 23rd.  Anyone else is welcome to join us a day early.

Any suggestions for a great weekend are welcome!!!  Dave, I hope you and Tim can join us!!! (We promose not to end another Westmoreland trip with a tornado!)

Okay...I knwo September is still a long way off...but the E/W sites are selling fast.....

Anyone made reservations yet (besides me, my daughter, and my mom (in a cabin)?)

I've been real busy, but I will try to make reservations by this weekend at least. At least to get to Westmoreland I can pick up my wife after work in Laurel, MD and head down 301. After my experiences going to and coming back from Pocahontas, it will be a while before I brave I-95 in northern VA (aka "the Valley of Death") again!

    Will try to make it again this year. If you recall I got canceled last year because of Isabel. I beleive you did too.
 
   Just came up the Tide water area yesterday and could not beleive my eyes on the damage to all the trees and what not.

Rich and I have made our reservation. Reservation # 1.419663VA. We did it on the internet and could not find a way to put the information that we were with the pop-up group. Anyway we made the reservation.
