On this comming Saturday we are picking up our new 2004 Fleetwood Prowler Regal 270FQS!!!

This will be a long week.  I can hardly wait.  In June we will be taking the big 2 week trip to Yellowstone.  I will get to break it in or it will be breaking my bank with the gas costs.

But this is the last summer that I can count on my oldest son being with us, and I want to do something special.  So even if the prices go thru the roof, I am going to go.

Wish us well, and no new camper problems.  I don't want to be 2000 miles from home and the dealer if something goes wrong.

Don't feel to bad about the dark side.. It is not so bad over here. lonely on this board when you are a darksider...LOL :yikes:
I understand the kids thing. Oldest is 20 and home from college she is going with us to Tenn. for the week. But she is in summer school this first session. and gets out that Friday before we leave. She has 2 more years and then We dont know, but she enjoys going now so we love it.
The next one is 14 going on MAD. So I am not sure how much longer he will want to go. BUt he doesn't get that choice yet!
The youngest loves to camp, and I have here for a few more years, as she is only 9..
BUT, Price of fuel is a concern for us with TV not getting over 8-9mpg towing TT. I am planning on having a yard sale the Saturday before we leave to add some extra cash to our budget.
The wife is like I dont want too. I told her if she wanted a vacation we would have it on the 12th of June. If nothing else than for fuel money.. At more than $2 a gal. by mid June we will need the extra $$$$, plus going over the big hill from NC to TN also will take more fuel. Wish I had bought that diesel NOW????
Welcome to the darkside and Enjoy, You will be glad you did.

The first time you camp in the rain all your doubts about the "Darkside" will go away. 10 mpg isn't bad for a "house"

You are going to have such a SUPER TRIP!  We'll all want to see pics when  you get back.  It's hard to say goodbye to your  beloved PU, but I'm sure  it helps to know that  the new one will provide you with  many happy hours (and miles) of camping!  :W

As for your son, I can tell you from personal  experience that  all of your life you will look back and be glad!   (And so will he!) :)   :#

Everytime I popdown in the rain, I'm tempted to do one of two things-

1) Tow the camper - wet canvas and all - to the dealer and buy the Caravan

or

2) Put a For Sale sign on the camper and sell it.

DW says that 'I' really wouldn't want to tow something that big, would I?  And I think, it would beat the heck outta popping down in 100 degrees and 100 %  humidity.

Well I can't take credit for original thought; I saw it on another forum. But it does help keep things in perspective. Now if I could find some clever way of justifying the 14 mpg without the trailer!

Gotta laugh.. when we broke down and had a our DD's fiance's father tow us, he came in a Yukon (8cyl) and just passing conversation on the way home, DH asked about his gas mileage he said it sucked.  He would get 18-19mpg in the city.  Our Dakota has the largest V6 that Chryser put in the truck, and our mileage is 15 combination driving.  We still comment about him complaining about 18-19mpg and laugh.

I can second this thought!!!
Been there!!! doing it.... Try 8-10mpg on my F-250 when towing the TT.
Rain isn't a factor anymore..But trying to find time to camp has become one this year..
Last year at this time I had camped at least 4 times and was planning my week long trip to Myrtle Beach, SC.
This year with new to us camper, 2 trips and trying to just drive 45 miles to the lake this weekend, so at least I can camp once more this summer..
Family and life-in-general taking over my life & camping plans..

well, we are on both sides, we have a 21 ft. hybrid and a 32 foot hard side, we have the hard side on a seasonal site, so we can use it as a weekend get-away. We don't travel as much now ,yes it is great just to turn the key and push a button, and the slide goes out and we are "home" but it's also nice to hook up and vist other campgrounds. My son is 21 and never was much into camping. He use to stay with family when we went. I don't miss the rainy day blues, of setting up and putting away. The hybrid is easier to do we tarp the bunkends, so even if it rains the only thing that gets wet is us!

The gas prices are keeping us more on the seasonal site this year, which is fine with me! we now have a really nice garden! so i can play in that! the campground just finished their new salt water pool, so we will test that out too, plus ken and I will finally get time to sit back and do some lake fishing, which is a stones throw from our site and we have a lot of bird feeders so we do a lot of bird watching from our chairs!

i think we will only use the hybrid twice this season, once to Gettysburg for the eastern rally, and once to the NASCAR race. Otherwise we are staying put on the seasonal site, gas is to high for our gas eater TV.

We'll be there in June as well.  Enjoy your trip!  :)
