PU is at home and me and wifey is trying to open it up. We are both on the back bed, tryig to extend the pole so that it will hold the canvas properly, we keep creeping backward and bacward and backward, yeah you guessed it ! The PU tips backwards too ! Really fast ! we throw ourselves back into the PU< and it clunks down on its hitch ! The wheel has come off the stand and here it is sitting on the thingie magicie which is used to adjust its height sans the wheel.

I go, hmm, that is why they have the feet behidn the wheels ! How smart !!!!! SO supposedly if I had lowered them this would not have happened.  I try to lift hitch to put the wheel back in, no way, so wifey goes back to the back bed and balances things out, I lift the hitch easly, DS puts the wheel back on, and I lower the stands ! Amazing how they thought of everything eh :) I hope nothing bad happened to the frame !

The way we are going, there will be a lot of SPUTS ! How entertaining I hope we do not brake Finally :)

Is this the "Been There and Done That" show! We have surely done both sputs you mentioned. Most embarrasing.... but live and learn. We also forgot to put the jacks up and tried to drive with them in the down position. DUH!
Just don't ever, ever, ever forget to check all of your roof clamps and make sure they are unhooked before you crank her up. A popped cable is costly to fix!   :banghead:

You need to create your own website... or better yet write a book.  Don't forget to write an article for PUT.

:o Did that sput one time.  I doubt that I will ever do it again. :)

As often as it's been mentioned here, I'm kind of surprised you forgot to put down the stabilizers before going into the trailer. Remember, raise roof first, lower stabilizers second.

As for the crank handle, I've never actually left it in the winch like that, but I've left it home before!!!

Yep. Done this SPUT too! And I also did it on the inaugural setup in Camp Driveway.

What the weird feeling was, was that I could not see outside at all, so I had this awful feeling of moving downward, but it didn't seem like it, because I couldn't see outside. I thought I was having a vertigo attack (again)!

I forgot the keys once.. I am so glad that my handle stays in the front box! I then was able to crank it up and remove the lever on the door lock so I could open the door.

Always keep a spare key with your camper.. Duct tape will keep on stuck the the frame / bumper ect nicely...

Give it time.. you will also leave the door on when putting it down. I do this all the time because I have a door holder added to the outside so I can keep the door open while putting her down.
