Well Chad finally did it. He graduated from high school and we could not be more proud. The graduation was great and their were lots of tears. Yes some were mine also. He graduated with honors, (something we were not aware of, a big surprise). He played his last song with the orchestra, Pirates of the Carribean and their were more tears here also. Now he is off to college of sorts. He wants to be a firefighter. So now he has to take a year, (I think) of EMT training and then off to fire firefighters school. He plans on making it a full time carreer after school in a large city someplace.:)

Absolutely wonderful!  Congratulations!  It sounds like he is going to be a great addition to society!!!

Congrats to DS....

EMT training was fun... DH and I both took EMT classes together.  We had met about 12 years earlier, but met again in class and that was the beginning of our lives together.  We then went thru Advanced EMT classes together.

My sister teach paramedic classes at most of the local fire departments and also to the area vocational shool.

I'm sure he'll do great.

Whatever happened with that whole Prom situation?  Did that "other" girl ever say sorry?  Is he still working at that job?  I e-mailed that company to brag about what the managers did for him, but I never heard anything back.

Hi Acts 2:38 girl,

She never came back to work but did come back to the store. She claims to have gotten married that same day. I don't believe it but who knows now a days. I do know that a few of the employees let her have it. As for your e-mail. I do know they got it and it was forwarded to our assistant manager. But don't expect a reply back. He is new to us and has a lot on his plate as we are also doing a major remod in the store. All the construction has got him frazzeled....hehehe. (Yes that was an evil hehehe). Thanks for sending the e-mail. Oh BTW, the next JC Penney magazine that comes out (July I think) will have the story in it. But it's all behind us now, Chad graduated and now onto better things for Chad.

Edit: Chad is still working for Pennys and has gone full time until he starts his firefighter/EMT training.

Congratulations to Chad and BOOO to the bad girl. For all I know she will suffer for the rest of her life ...

Yeah to Chad!!  Super job he did finishing high school.  Our nephew really struggled, and will go to college of sorts, he'll do two years for an AAS in Criminal Justice then will join the police force.  He's worried about the schooling, because he struggled with math in High School, but I'm hoping to help him out since he's living with us, and I had eight years of math in High School and College, and loved it all.

On another note, what instrument did Chad play in the orchestra?  Our 10 year old starts middle school in August, and will be playing string bass.  We are excited, since he is our kid who struggles with school.  He loves music, and the instructor commented he was very focused on fitting day, even though he hadn't had his ADHD medication that day.

What a proud day for you.  Congratulations.

StartX,

Chad plays the violin.  He actually did quite well which was a surprise to us.  It is suppose to be one of the hardest instruments to play.  I have tried it.  I sounded like a long tail cat in a room full of rocking chairs.

My youngest son is ADHD also.  He has been on several different medications trying to find the best one.  The one thing that did really help was this year he joined the highschool baseball team.  He was just a manager but his grades came up from D and Es  to mostly Bs now.  The coach/teacher said that kids with ADHD tend to do so much better in school if you have them in a sports or music program.  Now he is on the next years football team.  They just started football camp today, so we don't know what position he will play yet.

Yes, the elementary counselor and special ed teacher were both extremely excited about Kaleb wanting to play string bass.  They thought orchestra was a better fit for him, smaller group, more focused etc.  The middle school special ed teachers were excited as well, as you know it not only serves as a cool thing for the child to do, but it works as a motivator as well.  With no pass/no play applying to ALL extracurricular activities, it is a motivator for him to keep his grades up.

On the meds, keep trying, and don't get discouraged if you have one that works great for a couple of years and then you have to change again.  There are lots of options out there, and most Drs are able to find the right help for each individual child.
