We finally broke down and traded our PU for a hybrid. We took delivery of a 2004 23DT Thor Waunderer last Wednesday. We took it ou for 1 night up to Sugar Pine Point. I am still in shock, it is sooo big!! I keep thinking, where is my PU? Especially when I look out in my driveway. I am sure that once I get used having an actual bathroom, I will be very happy. The beds on this thing are huge, and the slide out adds so much room. Now, time to figure out where to camp next...

Gone-Camping

Congratulations on the Hybrid. You've joined a select group of us that seems to be growing by leaps and bounds! And most of us are of the same mind-set as you, Pop-up Campers at heart, but with growing needs (or desires)...

Congratulation on your new camper!  We wish you many happy camp-outs in the future!

Yes, that is it! The slide out is really nice,  and there is still tons of room, even if we don't "slide out".I am kind of overwhelmed, still don't know what to do with all the space... The nice thing about this trailer is that the beds are huge. We can sleep feet forward. so that we don't have to climb over each other to get up in the middle of the night. I get really cranky when I get woken up before I want to. LOL

That's a great floorplan and almost precisely what I would want, though the one I want would be in a 21' version so it could still be pulled by something like a 6-cylinder Chevy Trailblazer. Slideout with U-shaped dinette is great. You're gonna love it. You can even turtle up when it's really cold outside.

With my 17-footer, I can turtle up by taking the queen cushion from the bunkend, put it on the dinette, Mrs. Sacto and the kids could sleep on that while I would sleep on the floor on the dinette cushions. Not a great scenario, but possible in an emergency. :eyecrazy:

At first I wasn't really crazy about the U Shaped dinette, in fact we weren't even considering the Waunderer because of it. But then we realized that the table wan't bolted down, and that the U shape was actually easier on the knees when hopping into bed. I never thought about the "turtle up" option though. Thanks for the idea.  We usually put the camper "away" around the beginning of Nov., because of the snow, so we don't get to enjoy the year round camping that most Californians can. It may get cold up here, but I guess we are pretty acclimated to it. And with no kids to worry about, when the temps drop, we just bundle up. May actually have to try the furnace sometime....

congrat are a bit late sorry! when we first went to a slide in the popup, we couldn't believe the room.(son 6'2" 250lbs dh the same but 5'11") then when we looked at the hybrids, we couldn't go back to a regular size. we had to get a slide, so we got the starcraft 21sso with the full slide. now we added a hard side to our collection, and that too has the full slide. the slides make a big difference, once you get use to the dance floor you can never give it back!

Congratulations on the new hybrid.

The u-shaped dinette you will enjoy and it is good exercise climbing over something.
