CG Price vent, and Bubba's BBQ in Jackson Hole

I can't remember who recommended we eat at Bubba's if we visited Jackson Hole, but it was excellent - some of the best food and service we had while eating out all vacation!  Thank you for the suggestion!

I know this has been complained about many times, but I haven't seen it recently, so I just needed a quick vent on CG prices.  Not so much the prices maybe, but the CG price compared to hotel prices.

We stayed at Flagg Ranch between Grand Teton Nat'l Park and Yellowstone Nat'l Park.  Price per night was $54.  The sites were large - almost as large as Fort Wilderness, but these prices are just getting ridiculous.  Hotel prices in Jackson Hole started at $74.  It just seems that there should be more of a difference than that since the CG doesn't have to pay as much for electricity per customer, they don't have to pay someone to do laundry or make the beds and vacuum, they don't have to clean individual rooms/bathrooms, or leave soap, coffee, provide free ice, etc.  They do have expenses, I know that - cleaning the restrooms once a day, making sure sites are clean between customers (I think most people are like us, and have the code to leave it cleaner than it was to start with, though), but when you compare the two, the CG should be much less expensive IMO.  Because of the cold weather and wanting to use our electric mattress pads (yes, we're spoiled), we didn't stay in any primitive sites this trip, but the cheapest CG we stayed in all vacation was about $35 - and these were "parking lot" CGs in the middle of nowhere.  Having three kids at an extra $3 - $5 a kid per night doesn't help, and most hotels let kids stay for free.

I know why they can charge that much.  Because we camping-lovers will pay it.  But I don't have to like it...  :(

We were looking at tent campsites (still looking for our PU) and it was $30 a night.  I could not believe they charge so much.  I did not expect the prices to be so high.  Plus they wanted extra for the kids.  Guess that is the price we have to pay to enjoy some time away from the city.

I admit it doesn't see right, That they are getting closer in costs.

CG's do have to make their money in a very short season. In that area they only have a few months to make their entire income.

And they don't have laundry, but they do have grass to cut, fire pits to clean out, campers generate alot more trash then someone staying ina hotel and eating out every meal. Plus they need trucks and equipment
to keep the place clean. Not just the vaccum and maids cart.

A whole hotel fits in a the space of maybe 10 - 20 nice campsites?

Hotel are usually built on the cheap land, right along the freeway.
The nicest CG's are on the prime land costing much more.

CG's still have the buildings, office & maintenance buildings, maybe a game room, pavilion, still might have pools. If you total it all up they might even have more inside space then a motel does.

Now if cg's were built like parking ramps, where they could stack everyone up and stay open all year,  then it might bring the costs down.

Well I tried to argue their case, not sure if it worked?
