Hello all,  Mikey here.

Wondering if anyone knows a nice place in the bridgeport area with hookups.  We are wishing to go there very soon and can use some help on places that are worthy. If anyone is interested in going as well, thats great.

Hi Mikey, we love Bridgeport!!  We go there every year.  Infact this year is our 12th year.  This year we will be there Aug 7-17.  Unfortunately, most of the CG's are state parks.  There are 2 that I know of that have full-hookups.

1) Twin Lakes Resort-(760)932-7751  This campground is very centralized to the 2 lakes, small grocery, showers and laundromat.  Down fall is it is in the sun..There are very few trees in this area.

2)  Mono Village.  This is a VERY shady park.  But you will definately know your neighbor.  It is also quite pricey.  I think it is $30 for 2 and $4 a night for each extra person.  With a family of 5 (us) that is a lot.  This resort is at the end of the road that heads to the lakes.  It is beautiful.  There is also a store, cabins, boat rentals and a small restaurant.  This would probably be my choice if I wanted hookups.

Our favorite campgrounds are Robinson Creek North/South, Paha and Twin Lakes CG.  These campgrounds are no hookups but are along Robinson Creek
and are beautiful.

If you have any other questions, give me a call or send an e-mail.

Hey Mikey!

There is also Doc and Al's, 760-932-7051, which has a few hook up sites. It's located before the Robinson Creek cg where Jacqui stays. Dave and I have stayed many, many times at Annett's Mono Village, 760-932-7071, http://www.monovillage.com/ back when we were tenters. It's located at the end of Twin Lakes Road and is a bit of a drive --about 10 miles--from the turn off at Bridgeport. It's very pretty, as it's right on Upper Twin Lake, but bears like to hit the cg every night. No really, every night!

People fish Twin Lakes, and I've heard they (Randy) catch fish on them, but Dave and I prefer Bridgeport Reservoir where we've caught some trout (rainbow and German brown) that have made the campers' jaws drop back at Mono Village where I fileted them. ;) Typical catch is about a pound and a half, and we conside that on the small size. My best was a 4 lb, 6 oz rainbow that hooked up the same moment that Dave's line hooked up with a 2+ pounder. After I helped Dave net his, mine was so tired from my letting him run, that he just gave up and came along quietly.  Ken's Sporting Goods can tell you the best places to go.

Thanks Lori for the info updates. I didn't have time to dig up the web-sites. She is right about the bears at Mono Village. We rented a camper a few years ago and sure enough this huge cinnamon colored bear lumbered thru our site at lunch time.:yikes: . I forgot about Doc and Als. I knew they had some campsites but I didn't know if they had hookups.

Randy usually fishes Robinson Creek and the lakes. The past few years the reservoir has been really low. At the twin lakes he launches his float tube and kicks around. The largest fish he ever caught was 4lbs and some ounces. He was in his float tube when he caught it. Boy that guy was exhausted after he came back to shore. Plus he only had 2 lb line on his rod. He couldn't believe the fish didn't snap the line.

We will be staying at Robinson Creek South in August.

Cabin Fever

We're heading up there on Wednesday, June 30.  We've had a cabin up there since the mid 80's.  It's on the lower lake side.  Twin Lake Estates.  I take my family and friends there every year and every year the group gets bigger.  There is some great hiking up to Barney Lake and Peeler Lake. 4th of July is the best time to be in Bridgeport with its small town parade, right on 395.  Fireworks in the evening.  I love this place.  There is currently a Bald Eagle flying around the lake. I've seen it for the past 2 years.
