I have a Coleman pop-up "Cheyenne" anyway it has that cargo area on the front of it. I was going to simply screw in some "fork" holders to hold my bikes on it. With the rear wheel resting on the roof. My question is do you all think it would be putting to much stress on the cargo box lid? I was thinking of adding a doubler to it to make it stronger. I have my Kayaks on top of my truck so I cant haul my bikes there. And I don

We have a Cole, man Sun Valley--so no front trunk area--but I don't know that I would want to screw anything onto the lid of the trunk.  I am familiar w/cannondale bikes, but even tho they're light, Idon't know how well the trunk lid would hold up over time, and you're sure to get dirt and tire markings on your camper from the rear tires.  But that's just my personal opinion.

There are other options. The PUT store sells the ProRac system.  Here is the link to the four-bike-carrier, but it also comes for just two bikes as well. http://www.popuptimes.com/miva/merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=P&Category_Code=New  With this sytem, from what I understand, the pop up's roof is protected by a 3M film you apply to it.

There is also the Swagman, which is a system that goes on the receiver bar on your tow vehicle's hitch.  Tim5055 has one as does a few other members.  You can access that info here: PUT discussion re bike racks: http://arveeclub.com/showthread.php?p=76789&highlight=swagman#post76789

I would not trust the lid to hold the weight of a bike with the wind pushing against it.  They are pretty thin and crack pretty easily if torqued the wrong way.

I have the Pro Rac bike rack and I really like it.  It is well made and it is easy to use.  I would not put the weight of a bike on the trunk lid.  I have a front trunk and have the Pro Rac set up so that rear wheel is on the roof and not the trunk lid.
