It's time for us to clean the canvas.  Any suggestions, hints or cautions?  What do we clean it with and do we then re-apply any "water repellent"?

servicing the AC?  We are thinking the AC needs to be re-charged.  Anyone done this?  Is access only on top?  Or will we have to Pop it open?

We are experiencing black "junk" in our hot water.  we are assuming it's coming from the waterheater.  Any experiences with this out there?  What do we do?

Black stuff from water heater - hmm - don't think so.  To check, pull anode rod from water heater tank and take a look inside.  Replace anode rod if needed.

I would take a look at your water lines - I'll bet that's where your problem is.

Per page 54 of your owners manual: Cleaning sumbrella 302  Use woolite, 1 capfull per gallon of water with a soft sponge.

Depending on the brand A/C you have, there may not be a way to "re-charge" the A/C.  Coleman A/C units are a sealed system and do not have schrader valves in the system to allow you to add refrigerant.  That is not to say a technician could not cut the lines and solder/braze some in.  But, I know as soon as he cuts the line you will be low on refirgerant :D

I think abbear hit the nail on the head; "anonde rod"  The black junk is probably what is left of your anonde.  You will probably need a 1 1/16" socket to get it out (most folks don't have one that large and just go out and buy that single one) to get it out.  Any RV shop will sell a replacement.  You don't need to buy the same brand as your HWH manufacturer, Camco makes a good replacement.  Take a look near the bottom of my winterize your pop up web page where I have step by step instruction for removing and replacing the anode.

Good luck

Tim5055,

Have you ever heard of anyone using a power washer on the sunbrella material ? Any comments?

If your AC actually needs a recharge then it must be leaking anyway. They do cut the line and install a schraeder valve to service the AC. From that point forward you can use the same valve. There may be some sort of piercing valve that is used that will not allow the existing refrigerant to leak out. The charge would be a samll amount anyway.

I believe the rule of thumb is the outlet air temperature should be at least 20F cooler than the inlet air. If this is OK then the problem is the AC being to small for the job.

I would be very uncomfortable with this thought.  They are specific in the manual to use a soft sponge (ever heard of a hard sponge  )

I would be afraid that the power/pressure washer would damage the fabric.
