QuoteI've lurked around PUX a little. Can't seem to get too excited about it! I like PUT, the magazine and the site! A LOT! Keep up the good work Dave! If the competition is talking about you, you're doing something right!

Ditto!  I've scanned thier site a few times, but just as stated above, I just can't get excited or into it!  Oh well, I like it here more!

I just read the thread on PUX. It looks to me like they are wondering why they are still getting their PUT magazine even though their membership has expired. I think you should keep sending it to them so they don't forget where they came from.

Gone-Camping

I've been purposfully quiet on this thread, partially due to the fact I'm a long time PUT board member. But also because I'm active on PUX, and a moderator at the PUX sister site HYX, and just happen to be the guy that emailed Dave and told him about that thread. And, for those of you who took time to look, I'm also one of the respondents on that thread as well.

Be that as it may, both boards are great resources for pop-up (and Hybrid) campers. Both boards have a different look and feel, though PUX is using the familiar Snitz software that PUT used to use. I have to add that PUX is far more active, every evening 2-3-4 pages of new post, all in the general section alone! It is everything this board used to be, and it was born of this site's change over to a pay system. More than that, is nearly half of their registered members are former PUT members, and I still happen to be friends with many of them!

I can't put either one of them down, I think they are both great boards, and both have their own uniqueness. I feel closer to the members here, as there are fewer of us, and we tend to know each other pretty well. Over there, I don't know who half of them are, but that's also half the fun! Each board is different in it's own rite and that's what makes them both click along.

Just look at it this way, PUT is a 'Premium' forum!

I thought all PUT subscribers had access to the PUT forum?

When PUT began their "pay policy" it was only natural for folks to get upset and this naturally drove them to free sites. When those free sites become overwhelmed with bandwidth problems, they too will be forced to start charging. I am a web site developer and it is the nature of the beast.

I visit both PUT's and PUX when things on the GLPUC forum are slow.

I have been around PUT's since the very, very beginning. I have been on PUX since it's beginning. Heck another GLPUC member and myself helped in it's developement a bit on the technical side. Just as we helped TPUC and other clubs get forums going.

I rarely see anyone bash PUT's but there are sometimes passionate comments made. Just like some of the ones made above. They are two seperate forums each with their own flavor. Many of the people on PUX visit PUT's. There is no need to keep this battle going. It serves no purpose, there is nothing good coming out of the arguement of which is better.

Visit PUX, visit PUT, visit both and enjoy!

I am getting of my soapbox now, thank you  :)

Quote from: SkipPI'm not too sure about "brutal".... perhaps..... "passionate"? LOL. There are still folks that are bitter about this site going to a pay site....and it's understandable to me. What I don't understand is making a big issue of it. Those that want to stay here, fine... great even! Those that chose to not stay... it's their $$$, their prerogative.

What else is there to say? I'll share a campfire with most anyone from PUX, PUT, or where ever!

Very well said, I could not have put it any better.

Shirley & Dave,

I said nice things about the 2 of you. We even shared a bottle of wine. I didn't mention the tree, though!  :banghead:

Keep up the good work!

I just ordered the "pizza bag" Bal leveler holder from PUX.

You paid $30 for a bag to put your BAL leveler in? No wonder PUX is still a free site.

I met (in real life person) a former PUT member and present PUXer at Umbagog Lake state campground a couple of weeks ago and he had nice things and well wishes for the PUTers and the PUT board.
Genef was at the campground and saw my PUT sticker on my PU. He introduced himself then proceeded to give my wife and I two tours of his Jayco Hybrid. (My wife didn't make the first one)
I would say that there is very little animosity between the members of the two boards. Perhaps some pride in being with one or the other, but that's no different than the pride a Coleman owner or Jayco owner or Rockwood owner, etc, etc shows on either one of the boards!
On the BAL storage, I would say that 1 piece of 1 by 4 by 8 #2 pine and one piece of 1/4" 2' by 4' plywood, 12 brass wood screws, a hinge and a clasp and I had a nice little case for my BAL leveler! About $12.00 total investment!
