just got back from hersheypark, pa. our favorite mid-atlantic theme park. also our first time camping at the attached campground (see revue high meadow campground). always claimed the family was out to kill me for the insurance-and they came da*d close this time. were there at poening 9:oo am, stayed almost to closing (11:00 pm). twisted my ankle at the back side of the park near the end of the  night. hobbled to the last promised ride of the night (and my fourth coaster with my 12yr old son) the new stormrunner coaster. 11/2 hr wait at 9:00pm, got to the loading gate, next in lline for the coaster, till i niticed how much attention they were paying to the restraint system. besides the shoulder bars, there was an additional crotch strap they tightened real tight. the guy explainde that you would apprecaite the extra reatraint when you hit the first hill-and don't take your head off the headrest,or turn it on the headrest-you  might injure your neck-and your guts end up in your neck on the first hill.
i'm not feeling too good about things at this point, and ask the attendant why-and he says watch. well, they slingshot you up the first hill from a standing start; 0-70 in one train length. and he pointed out the first hill-strait up 185 ft, 2 barrel rolls and strait down. so there was the hill, lit up and changing colors and people almost falling off... well, we stepped over the car after my life flashed before my eyes, my son protesting all the way. we had to immediately do the sidewinder to placate him, a simple 150 ft steel coaster that does the same loop front and backwards. wqe quit at that point, i hobebbled the 10 1/2 miles back to the car, drove the 1 1/2 miles back to the campground, sat down and put up my poor foot. i'm 45. my coaster days are over before they succeed. and i gotta call the lawyer about the will...

SOunds like you had a great time, hope your foot is feeling better... I am sure your son enjoyed you riding the coasters with him, those hills at Hershey can be a killer to walk up...

I LOVE roller coasters!  Actually I have more problems on the ferris wheel.  All that unrestricted rocking back and forth, plus the height......makes me nervous just thinking about it.  *shudder*

I'm with you Marty, although LOVE would be a strong word!  I can manage the roller coasters (but only the 'tame' ones!), but you couldn't pay me enough money to get on a Ferris Wheel ... and my kids have tried!  Fortunately they are getting old enough to just wave at me from the top!  :W
