do you think it would be a good idea if the manufactures made the roofs on hybrid and hard sides with a reflective silver coat to help reflect the heat off the top?

Gone-Camping

Yeah, well it would be nice, but they certainly haven't got the message from ALL the PU owners that have asked, doubt the Hybrid makers will either!

Reflective Roofs might be okay, but can you imagine trying to follow a bunch of mirrors on the road? You'd need a welding mask!

dee106

thats why i said for hybrids and hard sides, they are high up, not popups, some of the 18 wheelers out there with the aluminum sides do a number!

Sorry! I reread your post, I had originally thought you wanted the "sides" reflective as well! I now understand that you only meant the roofs!!!
Here in Vermont, especially THIS Summer (so called) I'll take the heat! We've camped almost every weekend from Memorial Day and only twice have we NOT run the furnace!

Gone-Camping

I figured it was about bunk end covers. Not real concerned about the roof, it's white as it is which is plenty reflective, and since it's insulated it does a pretty good job.

However, I've noticed when checking out TT's at the various RV dealers this summer, that some of them seem to be better insulated than others. Wait for a good 90

That's a good point, about going into campers on warm days, Cliff.
I'll have to remember that as we start seaching for our hybrid!

Gone-Camping

It was a discovery by accident really. I was checking them out on a couple of occassions last month, and I noticed that when I went into certain makes, they were much hotter inside than the others were. I didn't really make note of which were which, but next time I probably will start taking notes on that. When it comes time to buy a new trailer, this is going to be very valuable information...at least for me it will be!! I'll want a trailer that has good insulatiion properties...

dee106

well, remember to post your findings, so we can all see which rv is the coolest in the summer. If i do that my dh will want to buy a third trailer, so i'll wait for your post. I can't take dh any where they are selling rv's!
