My DH has been in FL for the last three weeks on business, and we decided I'd fly out there over Labor Day weekend to spend a much needed "weekend away" together.  You know, no kids to tell to quit fighting, no softball practice/games to ferry a kid to, no laundry to do.  And wouldn't you know it, a hurricane decides to hit the state the weekend I'm supposed to go.  So after fighting with the airline to get a refund (they wanted me to go since I was arriving Friday morning and the hurricane is arriving Saturday in all its splendor, even though the whole *&@$ state is being evaucated.  Don't ever use Delta/Song), DH's company evacuated everyone to a hotel within the airport and told them all to go home for the weekend.  We feared his flight may be cancelled, but Frances cooperated and slowed down, allowing him to leave.  His flight was an hour delayed, which concerned me because I didn't get the call to pick him up when I expected him, but he is home in California safe and sound, for the weekend at least.  He has to go back Tues. or Wed., but only for another week.  Now let's hope his clothes and belongings, which are in his condo on the beach, will still be intact when he gets back and not blown away and someone in Georgia is enjoying them.

We always talk about the luck of the Cox family, which means none.  Now with the way the rest of this week has gone, we'll get hit by a big earthquake while he's home!  Let's hope for something better for us, but still bad luck, like my van getting stolen or something, because I really need a new car!

TRINA, don't say the E word. We haven't had a big one since Northridge. That was 10 years ago. Hopefully, your luck doesn't rub off on the rest of us.:Z .  I am glad Paul made it home safe and sound and hopefully doesn't have to travel too much more.

Jacqui --

Don't I know it was 10 years ago!  Emily was born the day after!  I was feeling the aftershocks while I was in labor and the plaster on the walls in the recovery room was crumbling from the tremors, which did not give me a good feeling about being safe there!

Paul assures me this will only be about two times a year.  We'll see.  He spent the whole first day sleeping because he's been working 14-16 hour days, plus the jet lag.  I did make him take me out to dinner tonight.  I'm at least going to get that much out of my missed trip!  I have a honey-do I'm going to try to get him to do tomorrow before he flies out again.  We'll see.
