I called Pismo Coast Village last week, thinking we had such a good time there this year, so why not return again next year.
This year we paid $41 a night, but they have raised their rates and the cost per night next year is $52 !!!

The person I spoke with said they had reviewed their rates, and felt they were underpriced, and upped their rates.
So is $52 a night too much for everyone?
Can we find another campsite for a better rate?
Do we have to have full hookups? or do we have enough generators amongst us to dry camp?

My sister just got engaged, and is planning to have the wedding in June next year, back home in Ireland, so we might not be able to make it, so we need someone to volunteer to Wagonmaster this rally.

So what does everyone feel?

What do you think of reserving 40 sites in El Chorro campground which is on Hiway 1 just north of San Luis Obispo?  This was the site of the "SLO Escape Rally" a few years ago.  Here's the information from their WebPage:

El Chorro Regional Park Campground is located approximately 4

Let me know what you think.  I could Wagonmaster this.

I second the nominaton of TOS as wagonmaster!

I think the central coast is THE place to have the rally and either Pismo Coast Village or El Chorro sound doable. PCV at $52 is expensive but the location and facilities really are first rate IMHO.

El Chorro sounds like a reasonable alternative though....

BTW are we going to run 2 simultaneous threads about this on NNC and SCC boards???

Yea...I feel like I'm Bill Murray in Groundhog Day! :eyecrazy:

We really enjoyed Pismo Coast and though $52 is a lot of money, we would still probably pay it.  Now El Chorro sounds nice too.  The rOCklin Campers will go with the flow and go where everyone else wants to.

Thanks Scott for your Wagonmaster offer!!

I like Scotts Idea...I would still pay the pismo price..and if we hogged the whole campground that would be a bummer...for everyone else :yikes:(there would still be 18 primitive sites left!)  I know we had talked about chipping in for an extra site as the potluck campfire party area (next to me :D ) this price would be doable.
You know how it goes; if you plan it ...they will come

my 2 cents:  my kids last day of school is Thurs the 9th wherever we go I will most likely make it an extended trip :D

.....features a day use area with barbeque facilities, volleyball courts, an off leash dog park (with two separate areas - one for smaller pets and one for larger pets), horseshoe pits, a botanical garden, softball fields and various hiking trails for you to enjoy.

The downside: We would be spread out over two loops, so not as close together as with other MEGA RALLIES. We would also probably piss off a lot of people by booking the whole campground for a summer weekend.
I think El Chorro sounds great.  One thing about Pismo Coast is the sites were a little cozy, shall we say.  We were packed in there like sardines!  A regular park (vs. a private resort) usually has more room between sites.

Also, there are a lot of things to do here that we could do as a group.  The day use area with bbq would be good for the potlucks, we could organize a volleyball game, we had a lot of dogs and I'm sure the owners would appreciate a place to let them burn off some energy, and there are softball fields, which my family always appreciates.

We were somewhat spread out at Pismo Coast as far as our group being on two different streets.  And if we piss off a lot of people, tough.  If we get our reservation first, what does it matter?  If one group reserves all 40-odd sites or 40-odd different people reserve them, they're still unavailable for that weekend.

I agree that the Pismo area seems the most logical for the north and south both to get to.  It's farther than we usually go for a weekend, but on a special occasion like this, we make exceptions.

I third the nomination for the ultra organized, and might I add high tech, TOS as wagonmaster.:#

Mine are in school until the 16th.  If it's before that it will make it harder for us to leave early Friday to enjoy more of the weekend.  But whatever the best date is for everyone (and based on the park's availability, whereever we end up), we'll have to work with it. <----- said the person who ends up cancelling due to softball most of the time, so don't pay any attention to my suggestions as far as dates!

Now that TOS is our wagonmaster, all we need is a byline in the Rally area to keep discussing this.
