Had the PU out of the garage last night getting ready for our Sierra trip on the 9th.  I popped one of those bungie dealies off on the end corner of the back bunk.  :swear:  Can you restring those?  PU is a 1982 Starcraft.

You should be able to restring the bungee cord.  Many people use a straightened wire coat hanger and attach the new bungee to it and then feed it through.  When I replaced the bungee on my PU, I taped the old bungee and the new bungee together and then pulled the old bungee out one side and it pulled the new bungee cord through. :)

You can order the cord online somewhere but I don't remember the address.  I went by a local shop that makes boat covers and awnings.  They had a short piece laying around gave it to me.  The coat hanger thing does work to string the cord and it is not to hard to do.  Just don't leave a sharp end that can poke through the canvas.

By the way, I understand that going without the cord can cause the bunk end to pull away during a hard rain.

We had to restring a Bungee on our very first popup, a '76 Coleman. We bought the cord from Lowes Hardware. If you have one local, it wasn't real expensive. We restrung it just like tlhdoc did. Didn't want to risk poking a hole in the canvas with a wire hanger.

Thanks gang!  We are off to Lowes to get the cord.
