Well, I went to my first accupuncture treatment today.  I'm still not sure about it!  First of all, it didn't hurt at all, didn't even feel the needles (nor did I see them, I didn't want to look!) I have to say however, the laying down for 20 minutes listening to soothing music part, was awesome.  How many moms get to lay down in the middle of the afternoon with no one around them and this beautiful peaceful music playing in the background.  The accupuncturist put this light kind of thing over my back where the needles were which kept my back warm and very comfy.  However, not that I'm home a couple of hours, I'm achy where the needles went into the muscles, not much different feeling than I go through every day.  DH says wait till tomorrow to see if I feel any difference.  I should probably go again next week to see if a 2nd treatment helps me feel any different.  At least I know the needle part doesn't hurt.  I just want the accupuncture to end the spasms.  If it doesn't I'm going the botox route, shoot em up and paralyze them ever so slightly!!  Since insurance doesnt cover accupuncture I can go broke just trying to make myself better.  I've been paying for physical therapy privately for at least three months now...it's getting very expensive trying all this stuff.

Rose, have you thought of moving to Florida?;)  (Maybe the warmer climate would help?)

Sorry to hear you are having so much trouble.  I have never had acupuncture myself but Billy went for 4 sessions on his back and unfortunately  they didnt seem to help a lot

I have wondered how it would be to go to acupuncture.  At least now I know the needles don't hurt. :eyecrazy:  I  hope it will help you. :)

Well at least I hope it helps, right now as I watch my beloved Red Sox and type to you guys,  I have an ice pack on the back of my neck and a heated pad on my back cause everything hurts!!

Elisa...Florida, oh Florida is still in my dreams and plans especially as this colder weather is starting to straggle in up here!!  I'm hoping we can still move south...our construction here still hasn't been finished...figures ...and we don't want to move the kids mid-year so it looks like all plans are on hold till late next Spring.  I'm dreaming of warmer weather and not having to hunch up my shoulders in the freezing cold here because shrugging shoulders and muscle spasms don't mix well in the cold!   :frosty:  I have to admit those hurricane rampages would have scared the living you know what out of me if we had already moved...but hubby says it was just getting it out of its system since we're planning on living there!! :S

Plenty of other Red Sox fans down here!!!

Our area didn't get hit hard at all by the storms.  I'm told Jacksonville doesn't get direct hits very often... something about the shape of the state, I guess?
All we had to deal with was some gusty winds and some hard rains.  Really heavy rain with just one storm.  The rest were actually a lot less rain than I expected.  I have been through many a winter snow storms that were a bigger pain to deal with than these storms down here.  But farther south they really got slammed.  One good thing is hurricane season is about 1/3rd the length of the northern snow season.  Also the storms are less frequent than the snow storms and you don't have to shovel a couple times each week!

I still opt for the chiropractor!!   You are one brave person!  I would have though you could feel the needles at least a bit.  Tell us how you feel today, it sure will be interesting to find out!

I've got to tell you, I'm not such a happy camper at the moment.  Last night I was very uncomfortable and today isn't a whole lot different.  I can't even make myself go out and do errands, though I did take a hot shower and finally got dressed.  I felt better before I went to the accupuncture guy than after.  The accupuncture guy massaged the muscles after taking out the needles, and I think that's what did it, because I'm really sore.  His massage wasn't quite as gentle as what I get at PT.  I'm suppose to go  again next week, but I think I'm going to cancel and stick with PT.

As for the needles, there was no pain putting them in or taking them out.  They must be extremely thin.  Maybe I'm just too much of a skeptic to think that these needles and relaxing music are going to undue all the knots in my muscles!!

Thank goodness for heating pads and ice packs!  I say bring on the botox shots and end the problem.  Accupuncturist said I'd most likely get the muscle spasms back after a few months with the botox, but hey if it's a few months of non-daily pain...I'm all for it!
