Stop the presses, or it will be a collector edition of PUT since the name Coleman now will never be used by Coachman ! Maybe they will call them the Clippers & Vikings, Coachman had to have a back-up name everyone knew there was a risk they could lose this battle in court.  I cant wait get my collectors edition of PUT :) this month !

RIVERSIDE, Calif., Nov 18, 2004 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Fleetwood Enterprises, Inc. (NYSE: FLE), announced today that the judge presiding over its legal dispute with The Coleman Company, Inc., ruled late yesterday that he has granted Fleetwood's request for a permanent injunction against Coleman, prohibiting Coleman from licensing the Coleman name in the recreational vehicle industry.

This ruling in favor of Fleetwood came less than two weeks before the pending trial, currently slated for November 30, 2004. The trial will still proceed on the issue of Fleetwood Folding Trailer, Inc.'s and Coleman's respective claims for damages based on Coleman's termination of the license agreement in May 2003.

Fleetwood's Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary Forrest Theobald explained that Fleetwood's 1989 purchase agreement with Coleman contained a "negative covenant." The negative covenant is the agreement Coleman made to refrain from any use of the trademark registration "Coleman" in connection with branding recreational vehicles. "We are extremely pleased with the Court's decision to grant the permanent injunction, which prevents Coleman from breaching our agreement and licensing the name in competition with Fleetwood," Theobald said.

Sorry Guys, I didn't read the thread labeled Uh Oh, not exactly a flashing light !

BTW I dont understand Coachman built and tooled a Mfg. plant they are weeks away from shipping units, someone heads are going to be on the chopping block, if these units don't get a name on them fast seems S & M will be working this weekend ! Hehe !

mike4947

Why wouldn't they get a name? Coachmen already produces Viking and Coachmen PU's. Just stick whatever badges on them they want.

The new plant wasn't just for PU's anyway. The press releases said, PU's, Hybrids, and Toy haulers were to be made there. All the trailers will just become Coachmen or Vikings.

Thanks Mike,  I thought it was just me ~ I don't understand why the big deal, if you ask me the whole thing looks like a PR stunt which is going hurt Coachman, why release the new Coleman Pop-up web site http://www.colemantrailers.com/ why drag PUT into the mess too !

Used 2B PopUPTimes

It is a mess, but they didn't drag PUT in;  I pushed my way to the front and jumped in! I feel bad because it didn't work out but I feel good about trying.
It isn't over yet and I'm ready to jump again. :)

Dave, if nothing else how about an in depth article on the new "cableless" direct drive lift system has Coachmen/Viking went to?

I've seen a couple of pictures but a real explination and diagrams/pictures of the inner working would be nice.
