For those of you who have this cooler, please let me know what you think of it and how you like it.  I am thinking of getting one.  Thanks.

GSM X2 I think has one of those.  I'll see what he thinks.  Surfcal.

I have one.  We use it more for car/hotel trips.  It only cools about 40 degrees below the air temperature, which is fine until it gets up into the 80's or higher.  It will drain a battery in a couple of hours.:)

Hi Hershey,

We got one from E-Bay, if your intrested send this user a e-mail he has around 600 power chills for sale ! We got it for camping and road trips an Hotels without refrigs...our kids just can't live without there sippee cups :)  Our Pilot's  rear cargo DC power outlet goes off when the truck is off, some added insurance to safe guard against a dead battery.

I have heard moslty good comments about them, when I pulgged in inside the house within an hour it registered 31 degrees. Yet I'm sure if it was outside in the sun it would be warmer.

BTW...Joel will sell the DC/AC convertor for $ 9.95 be sure to get this adapter !

We tried to get a Coleman, but the two we purchased three years ago both had unusually loud fans on them.  So we wound up getting the equivilant Igloo product.  We consider it one of the best investments we have made.  I had dealing with ice.

We plug it into the car's 12-volt system when traveling, the leave it outside the camper plugged into 110 when camping.  It works really well.  Like someone said, it keeps temperatures about 40 degree below the outside temperature.  Keep it in the shade when really hot and unplug it at night to avoid freezing your bacon.

This thing is rather versitile. Not only does it cool, but it will also keep items + 40 F warmer than the outside temp. It was useful on Christmas when traveling to the in-laws house with the wife's contribution to the dinner. We plugged it into the 12 V in the car while traviling, and the 110 V at their house. Kept everything warm without having to re-heat using their oven ( which I might add was very crowded with the other guest's offerings ) until dinner was served. Truly a good investment.

We've used a similar product, from Igloo, for years and can't imagine camping without it.

- Runs about 2 days on the camper's battery (we boost it a bit by adding frozen bottles of water before we leave)

- We move it into the car so our food is always handy

- For parties we bring it into the house and, with an adapter, it's a small fridge for drinks.

I don't know about the Coleman, but ours does not regulate temperature. We sometimes have to turn it off to keep food from freezing when it is colder outside. Also, it can take a while to cool down so we plug it in and put the non-perishables in the night before.

Hope this helps.

Yep--all it takes is to turn the cord over and it will heat instead of cool....even if you don't want it to.  I did it stupidly on the first night of a cross country trip.  Woke up to baked apples and hot milk and a lot of warmed speciality items that should have been kept cold.

Becky,
I have to concur that we also have the Igloo brand & it has been the best investment we ever made.  We pack our frozen meat into this cooler when camping and the meat will stay frozen the entire time.  If we are not taking a lot of frozen products then we will pack it with cooled soda and it keeps them cool.
On one camping trip Sandra packed the frozen meat in the cooler and on top of the space left she placed a rubbermaid container of deviled eggs, well lets just say the eggs whites had frozen and it was like eating rubber.

I know next to nothing about these type cooler/warmers as I've never owned one. But an old crony fishing buddy of mine has the Igloo "Kool-Mate 40", which I guess is a 40qt cooler. Not the biggest, but let me say I was impressed with this one. Don't know if they all do, but this one will stand on end while in operation or you can lay it level just like a regular ice cooler. He uses in for his vehicle (12 volt) traveling to and from and if staying where there are hook-ups, plugs into the 110 there. I thought the thing was pretty well built and I like how the lid (door?) latches closed.

We liked ours so much, we took out the existing ice chest in our camper, and put the Powerchill in its place, after I wired it up. This winter, I am working on a more attractive wooden top for it. See the pics at http://www.larryandhollycrockett.com/modifications.html

Wow Larry, you did a really nice job with that cooler and all of your other mods.  Where did you get your graphics? (hey, I just hijacked my own thread)
I think that I can't live much longer with out a powerchill cooler.  I bought a new to me camper,(it was Dave's camper) and the only problem is that I can not access the fridge with the top down.  I could with my Jayco camper.  This was a wonder feature.  So, I thought that I could get a powerchill and use that for my cooler, both inside and out.  Also, my new camper has PopUp Times decals, and I mean BIG decals all over it.  My sister and I thought that we would remove the decals and paint or apply graphics to the sides in some sort of Pennsylvanie mode, like hex signs or something like that.  I have been looking a graphic websites, but so far, I haven't found what I want.
