I have always wondered what the little dot on a spray can is for?  You know the one you are supposed to turn the nozzle toward before spraying.  Why are you supposed to aim it toward the dot?  I seems to spray OK if it isn't aimed in that direction.

As I understand it, inside the can is a tube that runs from the bottom of the can to the spray nozzle. This tube has a bend in it as it's a tad longer than the can is high and the end of that tube is down at the bottom outside edge of the can right below where the dot is. Supposedly, when the spray can is in use the user will invariably have it tilted slightly forward, meaning that when the contents of the can is getting lower all the material will come out without so much spit & sputter. Should you ever have to spray in an upward position, turn the nozzel 180 degrees so it will be picking up the can's contents better at that angle.

I figure that since I paid for it, I'll point the nozzle in any direction I want!  ;)  ;)

OK--here is a guess, cause I certainly don't know.

It's possible that the tube that goes to the bottom of the can is bent to face toward the dot, thus insuring that you will be the maximum amount of product IF you point the nozzle toward the dot.  Just a guess, but a logical guess.

I didn't see anything related to the "dot", but did learn some interesting stuff.

Enjoy

The idea of the pick up tube seems the most logical idea.
