has anyone dealt with a tear in their awning and how easy is it to fix?

How big is the tear? Duct tape would work on smaller ones.

the tear is about 6" and it is right where the fabric attaches to the big plastic peice that rolls out at the end.  Did that make sense?

An auto upolstry shop could do it for you, you might try using goop to glue a patch to the awning, you could try using the clear duct tape or try the repair kit they sell here at PUT.:)

David - the best stuff I've found for repairing holes in my awning has been a product called Aqua Seal. Been using it for my fishing waders and hip boots for quite soemtime; in spite of the boots and waders (and awning) getting streched and folded,  it stays flexible and waterproof. Here's the website in case your interested: (on the right side of the page click on search and then on the following page enter "aqua seal" for search and then click on adhesives and sealants)

For a tear as you've described I'd attach a piece of tape on the underside of the awning and apply the adhesive to the exterior side (opposite). Need any additional info, let me know.
