My DW is a neat freak and would like to gather any tips/advice she can about cleaning the hybrid.

Can she use bleach products on the shower/tub/sink? Are there certain chemical to use/not use when cleaning? Are those mini-vacs helpful or just get in the way?

Any other advice would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Chad

I keep a couple of the pre-moistened disposable wipes(the ones in the round recloseable containers) in my bath and kitchen and wipe down everything with those while packing up.  Read the labels and make sure they are safe for fiberglass.  I use them on my shower and potty and just throw them out with the trash when leaving.  The ones I get have an antibacterial in them so I don't feel the need for heavy bleaches.  I think clorox makes the one I use in the bathroom.

Buy a patio mat to put on the ground outside the trailer.  It will keep a lot of dirt from entering the trailer.  I use the disposable wipes, soft scrub and Protect All to clean my PU.  I also have a small 12 volt vacuum that works OK, but not like the one at home.  It helps on things like sand.:)

I am one of the few that does this but a couple of coats of Future floor wax help keep the pitch from sticking to the floor.

When I had a Viking popup I seemed to be continually cleaning the tops of the bunkends with Simple Green. With my Bantam hybrid the bunkends seem to stay white with only a regular washing.

For doing dishes we buy the presoaped cloths from Dawn. Can't spill the cloths.

Rubbing alcohol works wonders for removing pine pitch from the camper. I put a little 303 Protectant on the spots that I have cleaned with rubbing alcohol, it has UV protection in it and retores a little moisture after tha alcohol dries it.

The 303 protectant iis like ArmorAll without the oily feeling and does't run off when wet. It is the more expensive version but much better, for the TV as well.

For cleaning the internals of those nice tanks, I use the Flush King.

Do the Dawn cloths have enough texture to scrub with?  I hate when I wash the bottoms of the pans and get black all over the sponge from the burner marks.  I usually use biodegradable camp soap to keep sudsing down.  Do the Dawn cloths have enough soap to wash, but not enough to cause bubbling out of the gray tank?

I use the Lysol wipes to clean everything.  One big tip -- clean up as you take down your trailer.  If you close up planning to clean after you get home, it will get put off and put off and then you'l lhave critters sharing your quarters before you know it.

No they do not. I have a sponge that has a scrubber on the other side when I need to scrub.

I have never had my gray tank bubble.

We too clean as we pack down. I use the disposable wipes for all surfaces. I think mine are made by Mr Clean. I have a kitchen one that I use on all surfaces and a bathroom one for the porta potty. Recently I have begun using the pledge ones for cleaning my house. If I had to wait to pop up when I got home it just would never get done. Cleaning as I pack up saves a step at home and makes it easier for those quick trips. The rare times I pop at home are for spring packing and fall unpacking. Any other times are generally because we packed up wet, or to use as a guest room.

Use Lemon Pledge on the windows--inside and out.  Spray lightly, rub around (harder on spots of stuff), then dry with a clean cloth.  Finger prints, bug guts, dust and whatever else is there comes right off.

Hello Chad,

For the manufacturer's recommended method to clean all the items in your unit, most of the manufacturers have a page on their web site outlining the proper procedure for each item. What works on someone else's unit could be detramental to yours, since manufacturer's use different fabrics, tenting materials, laminates, etc. IMHO.

I know Coleman / Fleetwood covers this subject on their web page.

Your manufacturer may do the same. I would give them a try first.

  Hope this helps.

I use Mr. Clean or Clorox disinfecting wipes on my table, stove, counter tops in the PU.  I have a good stong dustbuster that I keep in the camper as well, it's great for picking up the mounds of dog hair my 2 labs produce each weekend!  I agree with other posters - do your best to clean up as you take down.  Then it's put away clean & it's nice when you take it out again.

Another thing I have is a tub of silicone stuff to help keep the moisture down.  So far it seems like it has worked nicely.
