  Does this product mean that you could plug your camper into a small generator (Yamaha EF 1000isc) and use the things in your camper while the generator is running?   :confused:

Yes it means exactly that. Just be careful of you high current items like AC. I believethe adapter is only rated for 15A.

yes you can but like chased60 said no A/C or no ceramic heater unless you have it on the750 watt setting you could run the furnace thou.

Just an FYI 1000 watts equals only 8.3 amps and that the peak rating of the genset. The continious rating of 900 watts is only 7.5 amps.

 
Also if that adapter is shaped like a small cylinder or cube; do not buy it. They have a habit of failing quite regularly. The good adapter are called "dogbones" and have molded ends with a insulated wire center, so they appear to look like a "dogbone"

I have only heard of them failing when people try to draw more current through them than they are rated for, like running an air conditioner.

I was going to get the one from the PopUpTimes store. We don't have air and was thinking of using a generator primarily for keeping the battery charged, then it occured to me that maybe it would be useful to do more. I'm very electrically challenged, so would you leave the battery connected as usual and then add the clips from the generator, then start the generator?  I assume it does not mean the electric sockets work but would need an inverter for that.  Would a 350 inverter plugged in with a cigaretter lighter type of plug be able to power a 13in TV and maybe a fan or radio/CD player?  Would the inverter run from the battery when not connected to the generator? We camp for extended periods of time without power and usually sunshine too.  In the past we would "take the battery for a ride" but it seems the battery is getting heavier every year and I think it dosen't charge as well that way either. You can plug the PU directly into the generator and use the electrical outlets.  If you just use it to charge your battery, I would recommend plugging a regular battery charger into the generator and using that to charge the battery.  A battery charger will do a better job of charging the battery than the generator will.  You would only need to run the generator when you wanted to recharge the battery.  You wouldn't leave the generator connected to the battery all the time.

Thanks, so when charging the battery, I disconnect the trailer hookup from the battery and just have the charger connected to the battery/generator?  The inverter would be used when not connected to the generator but just running off the battery?
