doggie downers

We have two dogs ,one would ride to the edge of flat mother earth;the other waits until you're buckled in and decorates your interior with projectile vomit which thankfully stops two minutes after we stop and are outside.any ideas on this?We hate putting the dog off on folks, but is there a solution?

Our present dog got carsick when he was young, it lasted about 2 yrs.
  We would get 4 houses away and the vomiting would start. Here's what we did.
 
 About 1 hr before you leave give the dog some Dramamine. The dose for dogs is 2-4 mg per pound  every 8 hours. I'd wrap the pill in a slice of cheese to make it easir. It's ok to give with a little food.
 
 You might want to check with the vet to be sure the Dramamine won't be a problem if your dog has any other health issues or is on other medications.
 
  Good luck, I know how frustrating it is driving with a pukey dog on board.

Check with your vet.  It could be that the dog is nervous and not motion sick.  Good luck.

Our 18 month old lab mix loves to go with you outside, but hates care rides.  She will eventually settle down in the car, but as soon as you slow down or stop she is up and hyperventilating.  So, we have some vet prescribed doggie downers, that make her very calm through the trip.  We give it to her an hour or so before we leave and she is great for the day.

We deal with this one all the time.  Rob hates riding in the car and on our 6 hour pushes to the Sierra's it was vomit city in the van.  The solution was simple and now he rides peacefully and we haven't had an up chuck in a long time.  First, if you have the room crate him in the car.  Not seeing the cars whizing past and the confind space of the crate makes them feel more secure.  Second Dramomine (SP).  Rob is 60 pounds, I give him one tablet REGULAR formula about a half hour before we leave.  No food before a trip.  Gingersnap cookies also help settle a doggies tummy.

There is actually a product called Doggy Downers.  I have a Britany that bounces around and will not calm down in the truck, OK so he will not calm down anywhere but will drive you crazy in on a long trip.  We pick them up at Petsmart and they work.  Might give them a try.
