Am considering going to Stone Mountain in Sept.  I want a site with elec, wtr, and sewer for the PU.  Does anyone know if they have sewer in the PU designated area or will they let me camp in the class A/C area?

Also does anyone have good site recommendations and what has been your expereince there?  On several forums I have read great stories and have heard nightmares...thanks

Honestly, I'd avoid it.  I've been there three times when we lived near Atlanta, and each time I said I'd never go back.

The pop up area is very hilly.  Leveling and pulling in can be difficult, and you feel like you are on a mountaintop on some of the sites that taper off down into ravines. It's a bit more expensive than other campsites, but the park has a lot to do. Customer service is fair, there is a store there. I'm not sure the beach is always open. The park can be very crowded on weekends.  The laser show is wonderfull.

IF you are considering the metro atlanta area, try some of the State Parks in GA.  Most are great (exeption being Red Top Mountain).  Ft. Yargo in Winder is near Athens, Hard Labor Creek, west of Atlanta on I20, is nice also.

I have to agree with Mesa Mac. I wasn't all that thrilled either. It's VERY hilly and I felt like I was going to roll down the hill at anytime. Alot of the sites are not level and when you back up your camper, you are literally "hanging" over the hill. I didn't care for it at all.

Laser show is great.....try the state parks or FDR.
