With much of the snow gone in the high-country, we were finally able to test the Evo off-road.  Took 10 days off and started the trip by pulling the Evo up and over Medano Pass in the Sangre di Cristo

How high were the water crossings?

bnr,

The 8 true stream crossings average maybe 10-12'' deep right now (with some deeper areas depending on where you cross) .  As you are going in from the eastern end, the first real water crossing you come to is a backed up muddy puddle about 50 feet long.  It is labeled crossing # 9, but is not really one of the Medano creek crossing (NPS made a mistake labeling it with a sign).  It is probably 15-20" deep and needs to be entered gently because of its depth.  There is one other place in the trail (another big muddy puddle) that is fairly deep (and rough if you don't stay directly down the middle).  All stream crossings (and puddles, etc) are easily navigated with most 4WDs.

We stopped and set up camp just down the trail after Medano Pass at the first campsite (site 5.8 - all the sites are desiginated by their mileage from the West side when you leave the National Park and enter the preserve.  We did 4-wheel over to the NP campground area twice while we were there; once in the truck and once in our jeep.
