My family and I just spent a long weekend at this cg and it was wonderful!
We stayed in the Boomerang section, and because we had experienced some rain a couple of days before our trip, our sites were a bit soaked and muddy from the rain, but otherwise fairly level, very clean and well shaded.

Our site had water, electric and cable, but no sewer, so bring your grey water system with you. The water was turned off a few times over the course of the weekend as the cg was working to fix a water leak, but the cable worked wonderfully all weekend and my DH couldn

I thought I replied to this a few days ago, but it's not posted, so here goes again.

My kids still love this campground, even at their age.  IMHO, the Boomerang area is the best area to camp in because of the lack of traffic and open area for the kids to run around in.

Next trip you'll have to visit Bell Gardens so Griffin can go on the train.  It's a treat for the kids.  It used to be free, believe it or not, but now I think it's $5 (the Bell Family donated the farm, so the new people charge).  It's an awesome picnic spot.  My Girl Scouts loved it.

This is a very poplular CG in October because Bates Nut Farm does a big pumpkin patch and other activities every weekend in October.  It's a lot of fun.   They have an antique fair, crafts fair, fine art fair and car show on different weekends, along with local bands playing and moon bounces, hay rides, face painting, and lots of good stuff to eat.

I'm glad you got to visit one of our favorite spots and had a better time than Randy and Jacqui did when they visited!

Is this a State campground or private park?

GREAT PLACE. We were there the weekend of the fires and had to be evacuated. They came close to burning but didnt. Sad part was we escaped the paradise fire and travelled into the Cedar fire right before the fire jumped I-15 at Miramar. Nothing like pulling a trailer with propane through a fire where it dark as night and your skin is sweating because of the heat...

Anyhoo. Wood Valley is a great place. we do holloween there every year. 10 -15 campers all with kids, trick's and treating. The cheesy lights help :)

Do you by chance camp in the section by the office?  We stayed there one October because it was all that was left, and we were in the middle of a huge group.  I felt like I was horning in on a party.  One family next to us had a three-legged dog that was loud and the kids were running around yelling at 7:00 AM.

October is our favorite time to go because of Bates Nut Farm.  Last year we went and friends met us there.  She'd never camped and he's trying to talk her into buying a pop-up.  They had a blast and their son loved the big pumpkins.

We were in the grass area to the left of the pond (goat meadow?) It was the weekend before holloween. Kids and adults had a blast. If your ever there and were camping, your welcome to join in :)

Two years ago we were in the upper area by the pool. There was another group that had the meadow and they really decked out the area. We have no 3-legged dogs but do have a heard of kids. If you go this year let me know and Ill figure out the dates :)

There is a group that reserves the entire goat meadow the same weekend in October every year.  They string orange lights from campsite to campsite.  It's really pretty.

I prefer the boomerang (the back area by the pool) because it's generally quiet and no traffic, but the grass of goat meadow is appealing.  It's just so far from the nearest shower house.

Now that Lori's been there, we should talk her into wagonmastering a real rally!

Hmmm...I could probably do that! :D  The rest of this year is a bit full for us unless Dave's trial schedule in September lessens, which looks unlikely.  Maybe we could plan something or next March or April?  I'm not a betting girl, but after the rains we had this year, I'm thinking next year may be a bit on the drier side, so an early spring rally mightbe fun.  Something in July might be fun too.  Then the kids could use the pool, since they don't heat it.

I would probably look to the boomerang section for a rally, since that is where we stayed and it the lack of traffic is great for the kids.  That would put us at around 11 sites.

Oh, great.  You know, softball regular season starts up the last week of February! :eyecrazy:  July is usually free for us.  It's hot there in July though, so ACs would be running.

The whole boomerang would be great.  The first three or four sites make a loop and that area would be perfect to set up for a potluck.  If you call Bell Gardens ahead of time and you have a group, they'll set up a tour for you.
