Hey all!

Copcargirl heard about some County Park near us that had "a CG with hookups" at work last week...  So today we piled in the Explorer and well, did some Exploring...  :eyecrazy:  We found it: Wilcox Park - 27 campsites total, 10 with W/E.  If you had a long enough sewer hose, I bet site #1 could be W/E/S, but then noone else could dump their water.  LOL!  SUPER, SUPER immaculate, and to top it off, we got in FREE because we're county residents!  The 10 W/E sites are all on grass, some with trees, all needing about 3 to 5 leveling blocks (or lots of cranks on your BAL leveler!).  All had a fire-ring and a picnic table and backed up to woods.  There was a BIG Viking PU and a small 19' TT in the whole place.  I cannot stress how clean this park is.  There were 2 lakes (paddle / row boat rentals), 3 playgrounds, mini-golf, and tons and tons of bike trails.  We plan to make a short trip there very soon to get the full experience.  I would say it is roughly 15 - 20 mins due East from Campers Barn in Kingston, over the Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge, down Rt. 199.  $17 a night for the W/E sites, $13 for a tent site.  The tent sites here are literally for a tent.  This park is not in my Woodalls Book, my Trailer Life Book, and it took me over 5 mins of Googling to find a website about it:

If anyone is interested in trying out this place with me let me know and maybe we can set up something...

Hello Copcarguy,

I believe the Popup you saw at Wilcox was ours! It's an '03 Flagstaff 228 with A/C. We were camping there this past Mon - Thurs. We love Wilcox Park! We usually camp there at least once a year and enjoy it very much. You are correct, the park is well kept and the price is right for county residents. Maybe we'll see you camping there soon!

Hey there McHPCamper - nice to  meet you!

If you were on site 10 and have a Dodge Caravan, then yes it was you guys I saw.  Small world, huh?  We had a white & gray Explorer and stopped to let copcargirls niece play on the slide and swings across from your campsite.  Is camping free as well or just day use?

We all go camping together a lot here at COTOC.  Not sure if you checked it out or not, but click on the webshots link under my profile for some pics.  Also, look at the links under tlhdoc's profile.

I hope we can get together soon!

Copcarguy,

Yep that was us.. We like site 10 because it's a pull thru. My brother was
camping with us from NC. Our DS's where in their last week of school, so my DW
would bring them to the campground after they got off the bus. We practically
had the whole park to ourselves!

Yes, you are right, day use is free for county residents. Camping rates for W/E
sites are $17 for residents, $25 for non. You can reserve online using the site
you found. They do fill up on weekends during the summer.

I'll keep checking the COTOC site for upcoming events. If it fits our schedule we'll try and attend!

Thanks for the invite!
