Hopefully someone can help me.

I just reinstalled the battery in my 2004 Flagstaff Classic and I think I connected it wrong. Now nothing works off of the battery. Only when I use 110v.

There are 4 wires on this unit, I guess because it has an electric lift.

There is a red wire with an inline fuse, 2 black wires and 1 white.

I have the red and one of the blacks going to the + and the white and the other black going to the -. The hole on the 1 black connector is smaller so it has to go on the -.

I think I originally hooked up to white (ground) to the + terminal by mistake. Would this kill my battery?

I have checked all of the fuses and all are ok.

Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Scott

It's possible that you hooked up the "Hot" black wire to the negative post along with the Negative white wire.
Unhook all wires, trace out what you can see to determine what feeds what, and try hooking them up again. If you can identify what wires go where, I'd suggest using wire markers to avoid problems in the future.
Best of luck.

Boy, I wish I had a dollar for every RV battery I've hooked up backwards over the years. (I'm a slow learner LOL) The trailer 12 volt is usually black/red positve and white negative. The winch most likely is regular 12 volt colors with white being the postive and black being the negative. What usually happens is somewhere along the line when you reverse the connections a fuse blows. Even with an inline circuit breaker at the battery it's common to blow a fuse at the converter.
Also when you're checking them, use a multimeter or other continuity checker. Can't rememeber how many hours I've spent looking for electrical problems that were a fuse that "looked good".

Thanks for the info, guys.

I rechecked all of the inside fuses and even though the battery circuit fuse tested fine, it was indeed blown!!
