I'm looking to get solar covers for the bunk ends. I seen the ones at Popup Gizmos, but I thought someone mentioned another type. I want to see what's out there before I buy. I looked on the forum, but I can't find the post.  :banghead:  Can anyone help?

Thanks!

The fist thing folks used was Reflectix

I use Reflectix. Comes in a couple different widths (that I know of), 2' & 4', X about 1/2 inch in thickness (my estimate). Comes in a roll but considering that you might not need the entire roll, around here, Ace Hardware sells it by the foot. For me the 4' width works just fine for my little Starcraft which has double sized bunks on each end. What I had to do was measure the distance of top canvas as it fits over the frame and doubled that. To attach to the canvas I use the plastic tarp clamps that are available at Home Depot, Lowe's & Wally-Mart.

Makes an unbeliveable difference if you have to set-up in (or partially in) the sumertime sun. When the camper is closed (or when not using the insulation), they store underneath the bunk mattress just right. Rain has no effect on them, just be sure to dry them off before storing. For my application, at the time, the cost seemed to have been somewhere around $25.00 (certainly no more than $30.00), including the clamps.

To be sure, you have to handle them with some kind of care, as they can be torn or damaged. Obviously don't use them every time out, but mine have been in use awhile now (sine summer of '01?) and they are still in good working shape.
