Any suggestions on best things to do if storing a camper outside for the winter.  Obviously, drain all the water.  What about my propane bottles? Should I cover it?  Cover the wheels?  etc...

Thanks.

If it freezes where you are, draining all the water may not be enough.  Most who store outside for the winter put RV antifreeze into the water system.  NOTE: This is not automotive antifreeze or windshield-washer antifreeze.  Those products are very toxic and not what you want in your drinking water.

We've never done anything special for the propane bottles.  We make sure tire pressure is up, but nothing else for the tires.  Some put their trailer on blocks and remove the tires, which may do something good, but certanly doesn't do any harm.

I also remove the battery and store it in our heated (45

To amplify Austin's remarks.  IIRC, Coleman says DO NOT cover the PU.

Bob IIRC Fleetwood recommends not covering the ABS roof.  They even sold PU covers as recently as a year or two ago.  I am not sure if they are currently selling them or not.  The camper is not a Coleman/Fleetwood, so what they recommend doesn't really matter.:)

Scamper if you have the owners manual check to see what it says about covering the trailer.  If no Scamper owners post here, you might want to contact Scamper and see what they say about covering the trailer.  It does help to keep a camper cleaner if it is covered.:)

How do you handle the remaining water in the cassette toilet?  It has the blue chemical in it, but I guess it will not keep it from freezing???

Thanks

good question ... I recently pondered the same question.  I am interested in responses on this one.

Drain all of the water from the fresh water tank of the cassette toilet and empty the contents of the cassette.  Then I put some RV antifreeze (pink stuff) into the fresh water tank and pump it through the fresh water system then drain it out.  Do you put the blue chemical in the fresh water holding tank?  The owners manual for my cassette potty said not to put anything in the fresh water tank.  To  only add  chemicals to the waste water tank.:)

we drain all systems, and the hot water heater, we blow it out and use the bypass. we leave the drains open so air gets in and dries it even more. Then we add the pink stuff in the fresh  water holding and pump it into the faucets, we remove the outside shower hose and handle and store it inside the house. we don't cover ours, we only cover the gas tanks so they don't rust. We put the battery inside too.

when we had the  cass toliet we use to clean it well dry it out fully
