I understand the benefit of "pre-chilling" the fridge before setting out when dry camping.  What I was wondering is if when I plug my PU into my home electric to run the fridge before a trip, is it also charging the battery?  Just curious.

Thanks.

If you use the shore power cord and remember to reconnect the battery it will. You are disconnecting the battery when you're not camping, aren't you?

You can just plug in the fridge using the plug from the fridge with an extension cord if you don't want to drag out the shore power cord, but that won't get anything to the battery.

Some convertors are better chargers than others. The centurion series are supposedly not the greatest. There are others that do a good job. I would'nt depend on the convertor to fully charge your battery. There are better ways out there to maintain the battery. I'm sure someone with a better background in batteries will come in this and help you out.

It depends on your converter.  Most newer power converters do charge your battery.  Check the owners manual or look on line at the company's web site to find out for sure.:)
