How exciting! That sounds like a super busy few months!  I would think you were more than ready to be back out camping again! Hope you find some wonderful new camping spots!

Wow! talk about a change of scenery! Sounds like lots of exploring to do in you new location. Here's to a great time camping :!

We are having a great time doing weekend drives finding all the neat place to camp.  It is so pretty here and the trees are starting to turn.  I can't wait!!! We have three trips planned for the next few weeks.

In the springtime we try to migrate over that way to nw Arkansas to fish the White River at Bull Shoals. The state park right there along the river is outstanding ... and so is the trout fishing! First heard about that area back in '88 when the WORLD RECORD brown trout was caught in the North Fork just above where it flows into the White (38lbs 9ozs ... and that's a big trout!) - and, of course, that area has again out-did itself with another world record; this time on the Little Red with a 40lb 4oz brown trout!  Now, the trout I catch there are not even half that size but can say that I've caught trout right out from my campsite there at Bull Shoals state park until I just had to sit down on a rock and give it a rest! Now, not too many places you can go and get into that kind of fly fishing! Maybe I'll see you there next April.

Fly:

We will be on the look out for you!  We had a blast this past weekend and caught and released a good share between us.  We are heading back mid Oct and can't wait.  We really are enjoying it here.

Camping Coxes

We had a very close family friend who retired to Siloam Springs and we'd go there every other year for two weeks to spend time with him, either at Thanksgiving or Easter.  It is beautiful.  He passed away about 18 months ago, so we won't be going back anymore.  DH was even considering relocating there when his company was looking shaky.  But coming from So. Cal., it is definitely a culture shock, isn't it?  Some good, some not so good.  We never could find a decent Mexican restaurant there!  LOL

Make sure you visit War Eagle mill for the big craft fair.  It's quite a drive, but worth it.  And HarBer Village is also a great place to visit.  Both my kids have done their state reports on Arkansas because of our personal connection to it.

OC Campers

Cheri and Bill, I am so glad to hear that you are all settled in.  I was wondering if you made it out to Arkansas.  You are in beautiful county and I wish the best for the 2 of you.

Hey Jacqui!

Tell your hubby there is some awsome flyfishing here!!!  Thanks for the thoughts and well wishes.  It is beautiful and we are loving it.  Lots of work and organizing to do with the new jobs has been hectic but things are settling in now.  Ryan started at the college at the end of August and is doing great.  My big fear was that he would not adjust well (autism).  He has done wonderful and is doing great in his classes.  He really likes it here and the slower pace and less traffic has been great for him too.  We bought him a scooter and he took a motorcycle skills class.  The college is only 2 miles from home on residential roads.  This will give him some freedom and independence that he never had in Calif.  So good things all around!

Trina, we did the War Eagle mill!  It was really great.  The craft fairs start the week of Oct 13th, and from what I hear people come from all over the world for it.

Thanks all and it's good to be back in touch. :D

I will definately let him know about the fly fishing. Ilived in Texas for 10 years as a kid and we used to travel through Arkansas on our way North all the time. I love the area. The scenery is so beautiful.

Hopefully some day we will make it out that far.

Welcome to Arkansas!! Make sure you come and visit those of us down south. We have some really good state parks around Hot Springs and Arkadelphia. I am so glad you enjoy it here.

I can't wait for fall either. It gets really hot here in the summer. The humidity alone can kill you! Let us know if you need anything!!

We have checked out many of the campgrounds around Beaver Lake and Devils Den.  We just spent four days at the Dam Site Campground on the White River.  (Some photos in our Photos below).  We are really excited about the fall colors.  Calif is Green in the winter and brown in the summer.  Hope everyone back home is safe from these fires right now too!

amannas, if you are in this area planing to camp let us know ans maybe Bill and I can join you.
