After a few years and many uses the zipper for my awning has given up.  when we try to zip it shut the teeth no longer grab each other.  We ended up taking the awning off the pu.  I don't know what to do now.  Should I try to sew a new zipper on? or try to secure the bag shut another way? Or  Should I buy a new awning? Awwww I just don't know what would be best.  What do you think?

Have you tried the old "take the plyers & squeeze the slider lips together a tad" trick? Every now and again you can gain a little more zipper life. The other thing might be to inquire at some of the auto uphostry places to see if they can/will make a new bag, and hopefully for a reasonable price. For sure, buying a new awning is not the least expensive way to go!

I had the zipper replaced on my awning bag last fall at a nearby awning shop. I also had them replace the bead that goes into the awning rail because it was starting to tear. They put in a much heavier metal zipper, the origional one was a lightweight nylon one. If I remember correctly it cost about $40.00 to have it all done which was much cheaper than replacing the whole awning bag with a new one. I had checked a my Coleman dealer on the price of a new awning bag and it was about 3 times as much and I would have still had to take it somewhere to have my awning sewn into it.

I took my awning to an upholstery shop and they put a new zipper in for me.  I used "Crocodile Clips" to clamp it closed, until winter so I could keep using it.:)
