This past weekend, we had the immense pleasure of visiting the Holiday Light Show at James Island County Park just outside Charleston, SC. What an unexpected treat! The route through the park is about three miles long and around every corner is another, unique, display. It was well worth the $10 for four of us to ride through (the $10 price is good for 1-15 people in a vehicle).

Anyone else enjoy these displays?

I'd second that, Skip!  I had a chance to see that display, too and it was a treat.   I never thought that a holiday light show could be so beautiful without snow behind it!   ;)    Especially amazing to me is how creative some of the displays were ~ things you just wouldn't expect.

I know they do one here in the Twin Cities ~ I'm going to look into taking the kids to that one.

SKIP,
did you camp JICP or just happen to be in Charleston?
What did you think of JICP? Well it might have been dark.. Never mind.

roflmao ~ we saw the park in the day time too.  (My camping buddy and I flew down to Charleston and met up with Skip and his wife there.)

The park itself is beautiful ~ it would make a great base camp.  If you're looking for lots of privacy ~ you won't get it.  The sites are  little tight, imho.  I know Skip's family has camped there ~ I'll let him elaborate.

Didn't get to camp this time Randy...we stayed in the big round Holiday Inn! We did do a drive-through during the daytime though. I was surprised at how crowded the CG was...it was booked solid! Like Kelly said, it's a great place to base out of. We'll be returning in the near future and I have all ideas that the Mesa will be following us;)

Starcraft Dad

We have a wonderful one here in Michigan.  The Wayne County Light Fest follows Hines Drive in Hines Park.  It is four and a half miles long, costs just $5 per car load and has a couple million of lights.  At the end you can go into a building where Santa is and have your picture taken and buy Christmas related stuff plus hot chocolate and other munchies.  Here is a pic that was taken last year of my mom and two DS.

They have one here in a cemetery, that we haven't been too.  There is also a street in South Williamsport, Summer Street that is renamed Candy Cane Lane on Thanksgiving each year.  It is up to the homeowners, but they all decorate big time, along with most of the people in the neighborhood.  We go there a few times each holiday season and usually go on Christmas Eve when Santa and some of his elves are there.:)

HersheyGirl

We have one here in Hershey, I think it is called Sweet Lights or something like that.  We went last year with a van load and I was very suprised at how good it was.  It took about 30 to 40 minutes to go through it.  We all really enjoyed it and would do it again.  It is something I would recommend to do.
