Quote from: mike4947Well seeing as how that's the exact charger I bought I'd say it would be a good choice, BUT I'd head over to Wally World. Mine cost IIRC $59.

And yes the 12 amp seting is OK for that battery. As for charging figure if you keep it disconnected from the trailer so the parasitic draws don't drain it, once a month is more than adaquate. As the self discharge rate on a fairly good battery is under 3% a month.

Thanks for your input & all others who provided input.  It was very helpful to figure out the whole battery issue.  I went out and purchased the Schumacher smart charger 2/12/25 amp at walmart for $59.

Interesting enough I called Schumacher and they said the 12 amp setting is fine and when charging once a month, to top off the charge during storage, the charger will probably default to the 2 amp setting, because only little charging will be needed.  They felt this is fine because the charger detects what is needed ("smart charger").

One other point.  I originally called the company to see if I needed a lower amp charger such as 6 amp. because my group 24 deep cycle battery is 75 amp hour rated.  If I understand  C/10 or 1/10 that would mean mine would only be 7.5 amp, if I calculated this correctly (did I ?).  However, Schumacher still thought 12amp cycle is fine for group 24 batteries.    Thanks again
