For dogs that don't mind a squirt from a water bottle try adding in a bit of vinegar.   Ours didn't like that at all and the smell goes away when it dries...however, nothing stopped our sweet little Cairn terrier (gone now four years:( ) from barking at just certain things. He was fine with most people, he ignored dogs his size or smaller, LOL, but every time a big dog or kid on a bike went by he went crazy.  I think he thought they all really should stop and play with him.  He was very friendly...even though he didn't sound like it when he barked.  We finally had to resort to finding a neighbor to watch him when we camped as nothing would stop him from barking and I idn't want to be one of those people camping with a dog that bothers most of the campground.  Our bigger dog does fine (won't bark at anything) and loves camping but the smaller one just seemed to need to let himself be heard!

Quote from: waveryThanks a lot. I'll remember to bring my old construction generator. :D If I can hear her over that, I'll feed her to my parrot :p .
You bring your parrot camping? Hmmm...This could get interesting. :yikes:  Between your parrot and my chi, we may be able to get sites on the valley floor.  (we will scare everyone off)  Yosemite may never be the same again!:D

Awe, that parrot isn't big.  I think my 2 cockatiels could take it!!:p   Bella could out run him any day:D   She is about 14 lbs and built like a boston terrier but has a chi face.  Sorry I don't know how to download a picture or I would.

You're right. Lorikeets are not a big parrot but they are deadly killers. They have been known to kill hawks that invade their nests in Australia. They go right for the juggler vain. That beak is extremely sharp and powerful and he is the quickest animal that I have ever seen. They don't get along with other birds well and will kill them for no reason. They get along well with all other lories and are the most playful bird that you will ever find. They also get along well with cats, dogs & humans. He loves to play with dogs. Kinda scary sometimes. One chomp and he's a goner.

That is why we have to take him with us. There are no aviaries (that I am aware of) that will board them. Kind of a nuisance sometimes. We can leave him for up to 4 days, with sufficient food and water. Any longer than that and we have to get one of the grandkids to take care of him.

See how tuff he is

Try putting a few marbles, pebbles, etc in a coffee can and then tape it shout.  Throw it near (not at your puppy) when it starts barking.  The can will distract the pup and then you should be able to get their attention to stop barking.:)
